Great idea coon duke, I used to pile rocks, sandbag, chunk of sod, anything to set those culverts. That’s why I always complain about us losing our ROW’s, these big culverts are great locations, and often the only drowning water on a stream

Great idea I'm definitely using that. My method of cinder block to get to the top edge is pretty cumbersome. Thanks.

I used a number 9 wire configuration back In the 80s and 90s it just snaped on the end of the Calvert, you could bend it up or down to get the trap to set flat. The down fall was coon would trash it often.

Need to remember this. Wonder if the rock is needed as the traps is very evident on top of the rock anyway

Do you not use the clamp for the anchor point for the chain too? That would be a no brainer to, I would think.
You could also make it somewhat thief proof by cutting the handle rod off of the clamp and using a rod or screwdriver to attach the clamp.

Clamps are relatively cheap when you compare them to a gallon of gas…lol

This makes me a little sad that I don't have these big culverts over here, all little ones with small amounts of water in them. Also, another set I have never done is a wing wall on a bridge.

They will steal the clamp and leave the 110 and mink behind.

You could weld a trap support on a beam clamp, but the selling point of the clamp is a support for the trap. I’ve used beam clamps to fasten to culverts before many times. It is a good way to keep your arse outta hot water with the county. They don’t appreciate drilling holes in their culverts!
