Canada: Ban Guns...and Possibly Knowledge!

OSHAWA, ON – Today, rumours that Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government will ban semi-automatic rifles and shotguns are confirmed.

An amendment to Bill C-21, currently before a House of Commons committee, was tabled today that will ban all semi-automatic rifles and shotguns capable of accepting an external magazine.

That Bill C-21, in Clause 1, be amended by adding after line 15 on page 1 the following:

•(g) a firearm that is a rifle or shotgun, that is capable of discharging centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner and that is designed to accept a detachable cartridge magazine with a capacity greater than five cartridges of the type for which the firearm was originally designed

This amendment also contains a huge list of firearms specifically identified by name, including the Simonov SKS and all variants, of which 22 are listed by name.

But the amendments are far worse than that.

Formerly unregulated spare parts, such as barrels and slides, will require a Possession and Acquisition Licence to purchase and possess.

The definition of “Prohibited Firearm” will be legislatively expanded to include any firearm “capable of discharging a projectile with a muzzle energy exceeding 10 000 Joules”, “a firearm with a bore diameter of 20 mm or greater” as well as all semi-automatic long guns with detachable magazines.

Liberals also propose to ban 3D-printed firearms by outlawing possession of “computer data that pertain to a firearm” … “that are capable of being used with a 3D printer, metal milling machine or similar computer system…”

Liberals propose to criminalize the distribution of this “computer data” used by 3D printers and CAD machines.

This is a glimpse into the newly created offences for which the majority of Canada’s 2.2 licensed firearms owners will now be criminalized, should these amendments to Bill C-21 become law.

More details to come as we dig deeper into this latest Liberal assault on RCMP-vetted, federally-licensed firearms owners.

The criminal possession and use of smuggled handguns, rifles and shotguns will, of course, remain unaffected by any of these measures.

I sold a lot of other guns too.
I only kept the ones I use all the time.
All sold were bought as investments and produced a very nice return.

Are you required by law to do a background check on the people you sold them to, and if so, did you? Assuming they weren't sold to a licensed dealer. You never make money selling to a dealer.

There will be millions buried in a cosmoline/grease coated cache just like there currently is in Australia.

You have to have Firearms Acquisition Card. My understanding is you have to call Feds and get them to approve sale. Maybe that is person to person involving shipping

It has already come to Oregon. Due to the initiative process, after December 8th, you cannot purchase a firearm unless you have a permit to purchase. Permit can only be issued after completion of a training course. At this time there is absolutely NO authorized training available and no procedures for issuing permits!

Sniffy just spoke about semiautomatic guns saying there's no reason to own one.

That initiative is going to get dismantled in the courts, as it should. They have 30 days after it goes into effect to set up the process for training, if that isn't in place in early January then they have more legal issues to face. This isn't going to go well for the gun grabbing crowd.
