Fasting - 11/25/22 07:43 PM

I have fasted for 10 days before and 7 days a few times. Starting a 7 day fast today, who’s with me?

do you eat or drink anything besides water during this 7 days ?

I am already on physician regulated diet 30gr of carbs or less a day 15-17oz of protein a day

what are you looking to gain with the fast?

I am always curios the reasons, details and effects of these types of things.

Just finished a 10 day fast 2 weeks ago. That's the longest I've fasted. Had done a 7 day fast before.

Fasts are interesting, right? So many different reasons to fast.

So many spiritual, physical, and mental benefits of fasting.

Cat daddy, what are the reasons you are fasting?

Health reasons for sure but there are other benefits for sure. As a believer, I know that spending time in the word, with the time I would be eating is refreshing even when hungry. Usually after about 3 days the hunger subsides quite a bit. I’m a good 35 lbs overweight for my 6’ frame. After both hips and one knee replaced in the last 20 months, I think the less weight I’m packing around, the easier it is on my back and joints.

I did 5 days once and 3 days 4 or 5 times. I'm not sure I could hold up doing my job after about 4 days. I do only water and coffee. What are you intaking during ur fast?

The only time I do fasting is when I am having blood work being done, I fast for approximately 12 hours.

A cup of coffee in the morning and at least 2 litres of water during the day and early evening.

I can see the no/less carbs and high protein. Fasting just ticks me off to almost the point if being unbearable to be around unless I stay busy 24/7 which is impossible to do in my job…a lot of windshield time.

occasional multi day fasts are not a good solution to being overweight

Cant afford to. I'm 6'4" and 160 lbs. They'd be cremating me if I missed a meal.
I can dry off after a shower with a dry washcloth.

I have fasted for spiritual reasons for up 6 days at a stretch and felt hungry the entire time.
Dieting to loose weight and fasting are 2 different things.
My suggestion, if you want to loose weight go on a diet.

I have been fasting on and off for over 30 years. I lose weight and over a period of time I gain it back. I know what works for me and really dont care if someone does or doesn’t fast. It does however take a certain mindset. Will power and self disciplne are required.

I agree, fasting requires self discipline.
Dieting to loose weight also requires self discipline.

if you want to loose weight you want to avoid long fasts , it puts your body into economy/starvation mode and you run on less

eating some fat and protein with limited carbs first thing in the day getting your body running on that fat then it can keep running all day on your body fat reserves.

Does having two beers instead of four count?

I think that is slowing and not fasting.

For 30 years your plan has not worked. Might try something else.

Losing weight is not the main goal of fasting
