Any of y’all ever had a hen go broody without a rooster around? I have two free range ISO brown hens and their isn’t a rooster in hearing distance. Had a hen go broody yesterday. I got her off the 4 eggs a put her on the roost tonight, an removed the eggs. I’ve personally never had one go broody without a rooster.

Thread about this awhile back, seems as though hens of any species tend to be temperamental, lol.

Sure have. A hen don't need a rooster to follow her natural instincts. Kinda like if a single women had a man who bought to many traps, she'd complain about it. grin

Had a Girlfriend go broody once in the 80s when I was gone...
...almost married that chick too.

Thanks. I figured they’d have enough sense to know if the had been bred.
