Seems to me in todays market if someone else showed up it would be a blessing. Offer the guy an on the carcasses price, come home with a lot more product, and save the time, lure, clothing, fuel, labor, vehicle wear, knees, knuckles etc.

Of course ya wanna make money but Jerry traps even in the crappy years.
There have been years that he's trapped but didn't sell anything....
He's not afraid to hold his pelts in a down year
A big part of his payment for trapping is just the fact that he gets to go...the.money is just the icing on the cake for him.
He will trap just as hard..maybe harder in a low market cause when the market skyrockets..for just that one season..he'll be ready..with fur to sell..
He will capitalize on that market spike ..while everyone else is screwed because they ain't got any fur to sell because they couldn't be bothered to trap during the down years.
To me a real trapper is a trapper whose in it for the long haul.
