Had a nice Filson waxed hat that was a favorite of mine for 15 years while fishing. Those look nice.

Many moons ago I bought a australian swagman hat made of leather. It was brown when I bought it but with the yearly mink oil and wax treatment it has turned black. But the water beads up on it and runs dover the edge of the brim, keeping my head and neck dry unless it really starts to blow and uou get the sideways rain. then all bets are off anyways

I have some Filson hats a tin cap that's wool lined and a shelter cloth cap both are top shelf until the weather turns cold like it is now -12 below zero but feels more like - 27 below zero then I break out my Filson Elmer Fud cap or so my grandkids call it ha ha
Give one a try you maybe pleasantly surprised .

Yep, I wear one of their waxed packer hats in the rain and a wool packer in the winter, as well as a wool mackinaw Filson coat. Used to wear their tin pants also, but wore my last pair out and don't own a pair currently.

Those are Stormy Kromers. Once you wear one no other hat is good enough. I have a collection. The waxed hats work for me @ 50F down to 20F The wool version down to 0 degrees F The warrantee is honored, had a small thread pull on one hat. Called them, gal on the phone asked me to text a pic of the hat and size label. 3 days later I had a new hat and got to keep the old one that I fixed.

I've never seen anyone around town or that I know of wearing one. Maybe it's kind of a fading fad. But that doesn't mean there's anything wrong w/ them. They aren't cheap, but may be worth it.

I had one similar to that when I was younger that was my grandfather's. It didn't have the ear flaps and if it was waxed it was well worn. If I recall correctly it was flannel lined.. I wore that hat for every day and hunting until it was a rag. I haven't seen any like it since where are these? What store? I'd wear one again.
