Do you need to dip traps that are strictly used in water sets? If so, what do you use? I saw that Full Metal Jacket isn't recommended for water trapping.

Yup. Forgot to mention that I'm looking for something more permanent. All the stuff I found in my search ends up flaking off. I'm looking for something more heavy duty like what comes on the No BS KO-K9 traps. I've used those on beaver with dam notches, and they will NOT rust at all. Whatever they use is amazing stuff.

Its my understanding that the main reason for underwater traps is just to hide them a little better so I would think some dark blue or purple or black implement paint would probably work well. I know they say not to wax them.

I just use the speed dip as well. I use the brown color for my area but used black for years and I haven't noticed any difference in the catch. A coon is going to polish up almost any finish.
