Truly just want to give back.

Truly just want to give back. - 01/30/23 05:41 AM

I’ve gained a TON of information from you guys and this forum. Mainly by using the search function. I’ve enjoyed reading your stories, and lurking in the back, most of the time. Well now it’s time for me to pay it back. I mentioned this in another thread that is currently running, but I wanted to start this thread in its own spot. I’ll be the first to say- if what I’m about to propose isn’t allowed, or is in the wrong spot, please delete it or move it. I really am just wanting to help out, and wanting to say thanks as best I know how.

A little over a year ago, I bought the local gun / sporting goods store here in Rifle, Colorado. We carry a lot of firearms and archery equipment, fishing, reloading, knives, holsters, etc. If there is ANYTHING you guys are looking for, please let me know, and I’ll see if I can get ya a deal. Some things have minimum pricing set by the manufacturer, but if it’s something I can get ya a good deal on, I’d be glad to do it. I have about 200 suppliers, so if ya need anything dealing with the outdoor sports, let me know, and I’ll see what I can do. Even if I don’t carry it in the store, I still may be able to get it.

Just wanted to help out if I can, and say thanks for all you guys have done for me. My trapping enjoyment / success has skyrocketed because of this forum. If nothing else, thanks a million!!!

Very cool of you and I'll keep it in mind.

Totally off topic but have you read the results of my coonhound's test? You seemed to know a lot about fungi and so I was wondering if you also knew anything about oomycetes?

You could donate a gun or a bow or some outdoor gear to one of the Trapperman auctions or sending some money from your business to the Tman fund. I think you get a receipt for a write off.
That would be a good help and a thank you to Tman.

Thank you for your generous offer. All is well with the post.

Remington CeeBees

Are they back in production or gone forever?

I've got a stash of them but they seem to have disappeared from all my usual sources and no one around here knows anything.

Yotetrapper- I did see it. Been praying for you and your dog daily. Yeah, I do know a little bit about the oomycetes, and I cringed when I read that diagnosis. There are a few types of oomycetes, three most common I think, and they are hard to deal with. Hard to kill. They aren’t really a fungus, but they kinda are. It’s like they didn’t know what else to compare them with, so they just threw them in with fungus since they act like a fungus- most of the time. I can’t remember the exact difference between them and a true fungus, but it isn’t much. Problem is, that tiny difference is kind of what makes them almost “bionic” in a way. Multiply when they want, multiple chromosome strains, reproduce in different ways, resistant to a lot of things, just flat out ugly to deal with. Not impossible to deal with, just difficult.

Best thing I would recommend- whatever you do, stay on top of that medication. Even missing one dose can be a setback. When I did tuberculosis work, that was the biggest issue we faced- people would think they were feeling better, so they would quit taking their medicine, and then BAM! A new strain of tuberculosis is formed that is now resistant to the medication that normally would have killed it had the entire dosage been taken. If a doctor / vet says take a certain medicine for a certain time frame, MAKE SURE TO COMPLETE THE FULL CYCLE. It’s the best chance you can give yourself or your pets to make a full recovery.

Re: Truly just want to give back. - 01/30/23 06:08 AM

Thanks

They are my preferred low noise dispatch when I do shoot. Low noise, no pass through and the hollow point actually does mushroom.

There is, but it isn’t much of one. Facebook is our biggest presence. We are actually in the process of getting a new website up and running so that online orders can be made. Probably be available in a couple months. Right now, we don’t offer any online ordering. I bought the store about 6 months before it was going to close its doors. Spent the last year getting inventory built up. Now we are doing awesome, the supply issues caused by covid are over, and we are FAR from closing the doors now.

I've had the store since September 1st of 2021. I've had exactly 6 boxes of 410 come through the doors. They lasted about 30 minutes. No idea what the issue is with them. I can tell you that walmart gets them from time to time- at least here anyway. But ya gotta grab em quick.

No. I bought Timberline Sporting Goods in Rifle, which is about 15 minutes west of where Tim's Tools was. Tim's Tools is now a storage business.

Thank you!!! We do post product on there. Specially the hard to find stuff. I have a list of ammo that I look for daily. 45 Colt, 22-250, .410, 30-30 to name a few. Our facebook is the best place to watch for it. If you're following, and ya see something, call the store and ask for Paul, then we can talk and I'll know you guys are from the forum. I try to do an "ammo video" once a week or so, and that way everyone knows what's here, and it saves them from having to waste time to drive up here for nothing.

Thanks again for the follow!!

Re: Truly just want to give back. - 01/30/23 05:31 PM

Just checked on the cbee hollow points that Warrior mentioned. I can backorder them, but no idea how long that would mean. I have $140K of powder and primers on backorder, and that's been right at a year now. So I put some of these cbee's on backorder, and will let y'all know when / if they come in. Says retail is $17 per 100. I'll do them for $13 plus tax and actual shipping, if my cost doesn't change between now and then.

I'll keep ya posted.

Re: Truly just want to give back. - 01/30/23 05:38 PM

Thanks

Been thinking it might be time to trial other loads. I try to match load to firearm and use then buy up whatever works best.

With 22s that's buying up a wide assortment and lots of shooting. Not much wide assortment available these days.

Been curious on the cci quikshoks.

BTW, at what point does backorder become you'll never see them? Seems like everything is backorder these days and has been for years.

Yeah, I've pretty much come to terms with that on this powder / primer order. I think I've gotten 20 pounds of powder, and maybe one or two bricks of primers out of that entire order. Don't know that I'll ever see the rest of it while we have a freakin idiot in the WH that likes to store truck loads of classified documents in his garage.

Oops, did I say that out loud??

Thanks! It's been great so far. My first job away from home was when I went to college. Worked at an archery store that also sold a little bit of fishing stuff. It wasn't long before I was skipping class just so I could spend more time at "work". I knew one day I would have my own sporting goods store. I volunteered here at this store for about two years when I was self employed as an electrician. On slow days, I go to the store and help stock shelves, help customers, or whatever. Steve came to me one day and said he was going to sell the store, and I jumped on it. Had the deal done in 9 days. I've never worked a day since. I absolutely love it here. Made a lot of great friends here, and seen a lot of cool critters come through the parking lot in the back of trucks during hunting season.

Raptortrapper - If i get out that way I would love to try the shooting sim. That looks fun. I love the mom-and-pop shops. I am in the market for some 6.5 x 55 brass and loading dies. If you have some shoot me message, please don't special order them, I understand you can't carry everything.

The simulator is a RIOT!!!! We do concealed carry classes with it, hunter education, first time gun owner training, video games like the old nintendo duck hunt, shooting drills, trap shooting, 5 stand, hog hunt, squirrel hunt, all kinds of stuff. Really is a lot of fun.

PM to be sent shortly about brass and dies.

I’m going to throw some Remington Cbee .22 ammo on backorder. It will be $13 per box of 100, plus actual shipping for you guys. Anyone other than Warrior interested in these? If so, who, and how many do you want. Please keep in mind this is a backorder. It could come in next week, it could come in a year from now. You don’t need to pay anything till they actually get here.

No need. It’s ammo, and anyone can buy that here as long as you’re 18 or over.
