No experience with the wireless ones. Their perimeter size was not what I needed.
I went with the Stubborn Dog wire system and bought a spool of 16 ga. wire. The yellow stuff they come with is pretty chintzy. Only place I buried it was across my blacktop driveway (Harbor Freight masonry blade on my circular saw). The rest is anchored by 6" wire landscape staples. Only takes a couple years til the wire thatches right into the turf.
I've got a pair of male Rotts inside a 5 acre wire perimeter and it's been flawless...........as long as I keep the collar unit batteries changed.
That's the same one we have now. I built a little metal sled with a 3" tall blade on the bottom. One guy stands on it and it gets pulled by a 4 wheeler around the perimeter of the yard. It cuts a little groove in to lay the wire in. Only took a little while to go around 3 lots here in town. (thawed damp ground is easiest) I bought 12ga wire for mine. It cost more but no trouble in 4 years now. I can get a picture of it if anyone wants to see it.
Labs are smart dogs and it's very easy to train them.
