Run- What's your cheapest steel running for a ton. They all it "tin & wire" here. I think most other places call it "shred".

150 a ton last week for steel. I have a burnt up semi trailer to haul next week. It was an old reefer with aluminum decking and sides. I will probably be lucky to get 10 cents a pound for the aluminum with foam and soot on it.

if the Aluminum is cut into 4 foot sections; as dirty; it should go 30 cents vs 75
Chile has created some uncertain markets for copper
15 cents pound here but the foundry is close by

Friend bought a tractor that wouldn’t run. Loaded it and took it to scrap dealer for a profit.

Not sure what we are getting here now. Last summer I sold a lot for 215$ Ton. I have a bunch more but talked to a guy today if he wants it come get it out of my hair. When it dries up, he will come take it and it will give him some beah money.

Depends on the yards here. 120.00 to 170.00 a ton non prepared steel. Prepared has been over 200.00 a ton. Aluminum 60.00 a 100lbs. Brass 1.40 to 1.75 a pound. Bare bright copper 3.75 a pound. I have been getting prices I posted for the past 2 months. If you take the time to sort, clean and grade your scrap. You can get a better return.

What is considered Prepared?

prepared deponds on the smelter it is going to
here it is 39 inches long =1 metre could be for the conveyor belts etc at the mill

rotors go separate as they go into making scraper blades because there is hardening agent in them already so that cost is factored in
ones with sealed bearing can not go because the bearing steel melts at a different temp.

2 feet X 4 feet = prepared steel in Virginia.
