Father in law passed this morning - 02/14/23 02:16 PM
Well, what a journey. My father in law passed this morning right at 5:00 mountain time. Valentine's Day. My grandmother also passed on this day, 6 years ago. My father in law was a rough man. Didn't have any friends. But I believe he did the best he could with what he had. His childhood was really hard on him. Grew up very poor, usually not even wearing shoes. His brother was murdered early in life, and he never got passed that. How could you?? He is now pain free. Despite how rough he was, I firmly believe he loved the Lord, and tried to do the best he could. In his last days, before the hospice phase, he prayed a lot. Had his wife, son, and my wife there with him this morning as he passed. He's been unconscious the last two days, so glad it's over now.

Wow. Reading this makes me so grateful his suffering here is over. He knows the Lord and I'm certain he is delighted that his time on earth has come to an end. For you and your family I pray the Lord eases your loss and grief. God is good and he loves you all.

Raptortrapper,
It's times like these that are hardest for us because death can not be defeated, even by the toughest, roughest, smartest of people. So we grieve for those we love, respect, admire and who we'll miss.
But God's Word helps us to know the bigger picture. Thank God.
Paul wrote it for the believers in Thessolonica so that for generations to come - we who believe - may be comforted by what is to come;
"But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep (died) in Jesus.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep (died previously).
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
Therefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thess 4:13–18.
Sorry for your loss.
Blessings,
Mark
