Just now threw my corned beef into the water, emptied the spice packet, and am headed out to the garden to get some carrots and potatoes to go with the cabbage. (I let some of my spuds and carrots overwinter in the mud).
Having my kid come over this evening to help us quaff down some Guinness.

Fixing to go mix up the soda bread. New one on me but when I saw the recipe I knew I could do it. Looks to be a mix between a biscuit dough and a cornbread recipe with flour.

I know a bunch of people that hated brussel sprouts until they tried how I make them. Baked with olive oil, sea salt, and pepper. Try'em baked!

Exactly. All the nasty taste of a full size cabbage in a tiny package.
My mom, being Irish, boiled almost everything. That included brussel sprouts and I did not care for them so my wife doesn't cook them. One son's MIL is Italian and she roasts them (roasted/baked like Catch22 described) and I will eat them cooked that way. She does the same with asparagus, which I never liked boiled, but now I love them roasted.

We have done that too. I think it’s actually considered pastrami when smoked after corned. We have used this dry corned recipe on everything, moose, deer, beef, but by far everyone prefers it with Canada Goose.

got my wife her own bed room 12 years ago , still get all the good with none of the getting kicked or elbowed in the night and no complaining about my snoring.
I was worried at first that it was the beginning of the end when I spent a 3 nights on my camping cot in the living room turns out she wasn't mad she was just perpetually exhausted from bad sleep so I moved my office to the basement went to verlo and bought her a bed and set it up in 2nd floor office/spare bed room , now her craft/bedroom.
win win, stayed married and I kept the bedroom next to the bathroom , first floor. I have to get up for work at all hours of the night if the page comes in so now I no longer wake her up when I have to work.

50/50 Dijon mustard and brown sugar is super good on corned beef. We pressure cook the brisket then slice, cover with the mustard and brown sugar, then bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
The 50/50 mix is also money on salmon either baked or grilled.
