The California Reparations Task Force, which was created by state legislation in 2020, is considering a proposal to give just under $360,000 per person to approximately 1.8 million Black Californians who had an ancestor enslaved in the U.S., putting the total cost of the program at about $640 billion.

The task force's final recommendations for reparations will be submitted to the California Legislature, which will then decide whether to implement the measures and send them to Newsom's desk to be signed into law.

According to an expert and leading reparations activist, however, Newsom, a Democrat, should be prepared to use his own power to enact such measures for the state's Black residents if the legislature doesn't.

BUT, since I'm feeling particularly magnanimous, any American citizen who was once a slave can receive $10,000 from any American citizen who owned or currently owns them.

Also, it's kind of curious that there is only one continent where slavery currently exists.
Why aren't they working to stop THAT with the same fervor that they are demanding MORE FREE STUFF for themselves???

The dems already control Cali, why would they propose this to get more votes. If they propose it but don't pass it or Governor doesn't sign off on it, it will only make their voting base mad. And those against it will be upset it was even considered.

I think the money should go to the American Indians. We took the country from them literally at gun point and enslaved them on reservations that they really don't own. We're out of control.

That state is nowhere near afloat, the unfunded liabilities are crushing it to the tune of hundreds of billions and rising.
Worsened even more with millions leaving the state and receiving those funds to be spent elsewhere.

If the indians had invented ships and guns before the europeans did, caucasian's would be on reservations. They are not morally superior. Nothing was done to indians that they were not doing to each other

From what ive heard from many people who have been to or lived out in western or north western states and even Canada. The indians are the blacks out there. An ambulance driver who lived near a reservation told my father that quite often they would get a 911 call from inside the reservation saying one of their children had ingested something and was vomiting. They would go out there to take the child to the hospital to have their stomach pumped and a heap of indians would pile into the ambulance and ride into town. Once there they would all scatter out in town doing whatever they wanted. Basically they would force a child to eat something that upset their stomach just so a bunch of them could get a free ride into town. Also was told that in Canada there were trailer parks that had clean looking trailers until you noticed the windows busted out and doors ripped off hinges. Just destroyed. Said that the government would buy the indians new trailers every seven years because that is how long they would last them. Obviously I know they are not all like that but some of them are still animals.
