Scrap steel is up a bit more. - 03/23/23 03:11 PM

Scrap metal prices are on the rise over the past week. Aluminum dropped 1%. Catalytic converter prices are mostly flat or possibly dropping a bit. Just finished watching Tom with Is crap. Have a good day, everyone!

I know nothing about silver prices should I be looking to get rid of mine? Been sitting on all stuff I picked with metal detector for years. Figured is about time to dump it.

Figured to haul winter worth cans and other odds and ends scrap next week. Want it gone no matter the price spring cleaning.

Silver has been neer 50 an oz before. Its been a long time ago but as the dollar declines silver and gold should go up in value or a t least not decline like the dollar.

A scrap business in the Ukraine should do well.

I don’t see where silver has been over $30 in the last 10 years on the Kitco charts.

What are they paying?

It was $9/100 for steel here last Friday, $11/100 for short iron

Why would cat converters price drop ? Is platinum , palladium and iridium prices dropping while gold and silver is increasing ?

I don't remember how far back it was but when it droped back down in the low 20s I bought a few thousand in coins. Then naturally it droped a bunch more. I just keep holding it it will never be worth nothing and will go up at some point. But I will keep it when I goes up unless thing are tight. Cash is a poor investment.

Scrap has many different grades. Steel is where it is at right now. We are pushing 250.00 a ton. But it has to be sorted with no junk. Freezers, fridges, appliances do not qualify as steal. Appliance or sheet. Is the category. Good steel metal bed frames. Any steel 1/8 inch or thicker. Clean with no attachments. Plastic etc. prepared is even higher. Copper is still good and holding. Brass is the wild metal now. Over 2.00 a pound clean brass (yellow). Bronze is even higher. Silver coated brass is at 1.75 a pound. Still good prices. Due to labor shortages. Take the time to sort your scrap. You will get rewarded well

Darn!! I need to check on price here. We are always behind in price here not enough competition. I did sell a lot at 200$ a ton last year. I have about 2 ton left to get hauled out some needs cutting but will need to wait till snow leaves and not muddy.

I watch a gold mining stock, basically its a "penny stock". Someone I know bought in sometime in early December at around $1.50 a share, it hasn't come back up close since then, trading this week around $1.10 a share. Given the looming fiat banking system crisis, it makes me smile. Reminds me of the line supposedly said by Michael Burry in the movie, "The Big Short' when he froze his investors ability to withdrawal from his short fund against housing market derivatives, "we may be living in a totally fraudulent financial system"...

I bought two 100oz bars a $4 per ounce in the late 80s. Hasn’t been a great investment since I am still sitting on them. That that was the absolute bottom price after a steep run up a few years earlier. Got two kids. One bar for each someday. I dabble in a few coins from time to time. Just a hobby.

Still need a 1916D dime to complete the set. Only 186,000 were minted. pM me if you wish to sell one.
