***2023 FTA Trapperman Feed - Jefferson, WI *** - 05/15/23 10:44 AM

The FTA Trapperman Feed is coming up on FRIDAY, June 23rd at the 55th Rendezvous in Jefferson, Wisconsin and it’s time to get organized!

This will be quite the undertaking as 400 or more are expected to be served!

I will post the Master List here and update it as we get commitments from everybody. Please post if you can bring food, beverages, etc and/or if you can help us in labor camp with cooking, serving or cleanup for the Feed on Friday or cleanup on Saturday.

Please do me a favor – when you post or PM that you can bring something, try to mention an approximate amount or number. That will help a lot with our planning.

Re: ***2023 FTA Trapperman Feed - Jefferson, WI *** - 06/17/23 09:23 PM

Hey, Dave!

As you know, Zim and I can't make it to Jefferson, but we'll be sending a few things up with Nute. I ordered plastic pin-on name tags with cards to insert so Trapperman members can write their TMan names on them and wear them. I'll send some Sharpie markers with those too. Nute can drop half off at Paul Dobbins' location so people can say hello and put on their names. The rest can be at the TMan Feed location to pick up latecomers who arrive in time for the Feed. It's always so great to look around and see the TMan names of the people you know here.

We'll also send a $50 cash donation to help out a little with expenses.

Sorry we'll miss all of you!

I got pin-on name tags and printed Trapperman.com on the cards and inserted them into the tags. Nute is bringing those up along with our cash donation. I put the name tags in two boxes, each with a couple of markers, hoping that one box can land at Paul Dobbins' space and the other at the TMan Feed.

Wish that we could have been there. TMan feeds are a lot of stress and work for the Organizers of it all. But, the friendships and rewards of fellowship overule all that. Congrats on a successful feed.

We hear that sometimes, Keets, but you have to remember that people contribute in other ways too. There are those who work all day (and those who work for days or weeks ahead), those who prepare and bring some fantastic and often expensive foods, and those who donate door prizes for the occasion. With all of that factored in, contribution assessment gets a bit more elusive.

Umm.. there were alot of kids that ate so..it cost some families lot.of money..even at 7.00 a plate

And Alot of us spent money and donated items.back to the kids camp so we supported the fta in ways in addition to the tman feed donations.

..which I'm sure others did as well.

Overall things were great and imo, we shouldn't highlight the convention with negativity.

That doesn't do any good for anybody and it might even discourage someone from attending future feed if the cant.pay alot and I'd hate to miss meeting someone on here at h eed because there not able to pay some high price for the meal.

They said pay what you can afford and I'm sure everyone did.

Ya gotta remember aomeof us aren't well to do and 7.00 bucks a plate is a stretch.

The Trappermann feeds in Wisconsin have never been about fundraising. It's a time for people to relax, meet up with old friends, meet new ones and just kick back after a long day at the convention. There is never been an expectation for anyone to donate to participate and enjoy the fellowship.

We are saddened that you had never attended a Wisconsin Trapperman feed. As a trapper and/or supporter of trapping, you and your family are always welcome! Come join us sometime.

Keets,
as the organizer of the Feed I honestly don't measure the success of the event based on the average $ donated by those that attend. I measure success from seeing full plates go thru the line, folks talking and laughing at the tables, kids holding door prize tickets in anticipation of their number being called, folks commenting on how good beaver brats were when coming back for seconds, trappers meeting a fellow trapper for the first time and the overall positive energy that is present in the room. Dollars donated can't measure that and many who went thru the Feed line were there earlier dropping off food, equipment, door prizes, etc. The funds raised to support the organizations that support trapping is a bonus.

I personally invite you to the Feed at our state convention in Antigo on September 8th, donate nothing or a $100, I respect whatever you choose to do. Some things can't be measured in dollars and cents, hopefully you can attend and appreciate that.

Respectfully,

Dave

You can still give a donation, even if you don't stay for the feed.

It was a great time, the food was excellent and the people that put this on are some of the finest people you'll ever meet.
