Wolf Spider Video

Wolf Spider Video - 05/30/23 03:04 PM

Little bit different video this week. Made one about a cool spider instead of a plant. Wolf spiders are some of the biggest spiders in eastern North America and have a level of care for their young that is incredibly high compared to most spiders.

Hope you enjoy it!

Let me know what you think, Anthony

That spider needs to be introduced to a backpack sprayer filled with demonmax.

I don't believe I've ever seen one around here. Am I too far north?

Don't let the replies from scared little school girls deter you Anthony, great video.

Thanks everyone!

DirtyD - you should have some species there, though they might not be as common as they are farther south.

HobbieTrapper - nice pic! Looks like a mature male. Those boxing glove like bulbs on the ends of hos pepipalps (the things that look like short legs next to his fangs) mean he is ready to mate. Also it is the ending chapter of its life...

I like them a lot better than scorpions and fire ants

Eagleye - had a big female run in the door when I opened it over the weekend. I gently nudged her back out the door. We have a ton of them, of several species, down here in KY.

I established a warehouse in Louisville as part of a Supply Chain a few years back and had a several Brown Recluse bites during the Pick-Pack & Ship process- they hit the Safety Metrics as OSHA recordables, had to spray monthly.

I agree with Hoss on this one.

Thanks for the info. I do try to give spiders a chance, if they aren't entirely poisonous, and take out ants and flies.

One of the small ones I've seen is actually cute.

Pretty cool even though I'm not a fan of spiders and centipedes.
About the only time i see wolf spiders is in the fall when they come into the house.
