Last winter before Christmas my son went to an auction and found a little h&r single shot 22 that fit him just right, so when it came up to bid he went got up front in the line and ended up buying the thing. He probably spent too much but hey he worked enough auctions for his money and bought it. Came with no sights just a rail for scope so for Christmas I bought him a scope and this spring I sighted it in. Well he has been bugging me about shooting a few squirrels, I told him he have to practice first because he hadn't ever shot a gun with a scope. Well today we went to hone some skills. I took his field pod and he is dead on, [Linked Image] he was smashing these little round targets off the field pod, we was about 25 yards. So we decided to free hand a few well too my surprise he was hitting the target, I know it's my fault I'm busy but this kid doesn't get to shoot much but I was rather impressed and proud of him today. The free hand was hitting target but not where he needs to be, but I told him that will come with practice and we will get out more before fall comes, he is yet to shoot anything other then what's in a trap but this year I think we will o
Get our first real kill.
This fall, will behis first year deer hunting as well. He just turned 11 I don't deer hunt often so he never went but he wants to go so I'll go and take home this year.

Doing well. Get that boy out and hunt. It will be good for both of you and time better spent than worring about all that sports crap he is wearing and has been spending time watching.

Jalstat I told cam we would start when I see the ones cutting hickories in the yard, we would get out. Momma has the yard pets off limits. But she isn't always home!

They’re hammering the hickory’s here now. You won’t find them any more concentrated than right now.
They’re paying rent in my timber darn near every morning.

You know how they are when they first start on hickory’s. There’s certain trees they hit first. I don’t know if they mature first or exactly why, but it’s that way year after year.
