So any one I've ever seen is pretty tiny but was bored and where waiting on a. Lock so tossed out my hand line and ummmm are they supposed to get this big ? laugh

That's a good sized Gafftop Catfish. Most are only about a foot and a half long. I think the record is only 34 inches long.

2andhalf to three pounds. Record is one caught in Texas over thirteen pounds.

don't know anything about them don't have them here , but if you keep going like that you might have to see if the Captain will let you clean and cook a few.

Yeah, they get grown. That first strike and you think you’ve hooked a monster trout or Red and it’s a cat, lol. They’re actually good eating. I think they’re the only edible cats in salt water.

They get pretty chunky. 3-5 pounds is not uncommon. Biggest ones I’ve seen was last year was out of Cypremort Point in Vermilion Bay. They were huge!

Cut under the base of the tail to bled it and no one will know if it’s a blue or tabby. Make sure to clean the deck if it rolls around or the captain will have you pressure washing the deck, bulwarks and everything else to get the slim off. They are the slimmest fish I’ve every seen!

This heat I do not miss making tows. Stay hydrated and safe.

Interesting, yeah the guys one here where saying their about worthless to eat but they never tried to so made me wonder lol
