It must be Porkys or Animal House. Has to be something old to see it that much.

Johnson is a classic, but I'm a sucker for just about any western. Also love the more modern outdoor flicks, like Iron Will and White Fang.

Imo, “ THE TEN COMMANDMENTS “ with Chuck Heston is probably the best movie ever. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen it…. And I never tire of it.
I still get the chills when Moses is at the burning bush and asks the lord “ who will I say who sends me??”
And GOD replies “ I AM THAT I AM!!!”.

Open Range is my favorite.

If you watch it, and I believe its around when Jeremiah is fishing with his hands, he has a trap you can see a V on the pan of the trap.

The sound & special effects are better that the new ones.

Tough to beat Jaws though.

Re: Best Movie Ever - 08/29/23 12:37 AM

Tombstone, Open Range, and maybe the first Young Guns or All The Pretty Horses are my fav westerns. Lonesome Dove is a mini series.

The Last of the Mohicans is a great movie too.
Posted By: Chancey

Re: Best Movie Ever - 08/29/23 01:07 AM

I think Lonesome Dove is the best movie ever, but as Leftlane says, it was a miniseries so may not qualify as a movie.

All the good ones as mentioned before. It is impossible to beat those.

I seen some modern day movies recently now that we got the Netflix. As for as modern day movies go, I really liked.....

(This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) or High Water
The Three Burials of Melquiades Astrada
Hacksaw Ridge
Against the Ice
Shot Caller

Shot Caller made me really think about if I was ever thrown in that circumstance. Good movies.

Shawshank Redemption, is right up there! The Last Castle is also very good.

We'd all be watching it tonight but the better half had meet the parents and progress reports tonight; afterwords, her and the other kindergarten teachers went to the Piano Bar to get sauced up.

Just me and the booger holding down the fort and checking cows this evening. I did start it already though, so far its an awesome movie! And yes, THANKS for the recommendation!

Shes 6 goin on 30 Savell. Got a attitude like her momma, but at least she likes animals, hunting, and fishing. (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) raisin boys is all she knows; which is fine by me; rather them, then flat-topped girls.

I got to the part where Henry took the wounded bank robber back to his house. This movie really good.

Didn't get squat at my house, scattered rain here and there, but everyone I talked to at feedstore said nothing more than .2 tenths inch. Hot and dry here; as I know ya'll are as well.
Got the corn stubble baled up, and praying for rain. My buddies west of me in Bandera said they got 0.6". They needed it worse than us. They been in dire drought for over 2 years. 22" in 2 years. Looks like the moon out there.

Re: Best Movie Ever - 08/30/23 04:04 PM

Yeah and before you get to Bandera the 'soil" doesn't hold water long at all. Most of it runs off and what's left evaporates quickly.

I sure been seeing some nice axis deer running wild out that way. I'd make freezer room if you ever get too many Chauncey! All those Yankees talking about beef tips would crap if they got a taste or wild axis.

Re: Best Movie Ever - 08/30/23 04:12 PM

Too many good ones to narrow it down to just one.

If you asked just westerns, it would have to be Once Upon A Time In The West and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Highlander. Received Academy Award for best movie ever made.

"I'm right behind you Stillwell" is from Tombstone. Watched it last night.

Thanks for the correction, can't believe I mixed those two up. Getting old I guess ! Two of my favorites !!

Re: Best Movie Ever - 08/31/23 05:23 PM

Shawshank Redemption for me, followed by The Mountain Men with Charlton Heston and Brian Keith. Much more entertaining than Jeremiah Johnson. FYI... have both The Mountain Men and Jeremiah Johnson original movie posters in my TV room/man cave. Can't afford to buy an original Shawshank Redemption movie poster.

Do her a favor. Keep calling her Bugger all through High School. Maybe that will help keep the boys at a safer distance.
