Eat clean and get off meds - 11/15/23 12:08 AM

Anyone do this? Spinning of the carnivore diet thread, anyone change their diet and change their life and get off meds because their body reset or corrected itself.

Good luck it’s either fat, sugar or salt out there. They tell you what you can’t eat but never clear on what you can eat or the info is never clear or unrealistic.

I have not had sweets going on 2 years now zero raw sugar, pastry, ice cream and my A1C went up so I’m not happy.

Cut out soft drinks, sugary foods, most beef & pork, fast food, fried food...Went from 234 to 185, and can kneel down to make a set while still breathing, Lol.

Getting up from the set isn't a battle anymore, and energy level is much better....Got off metoprolol BP medicine.

Fat and salt is not a problem, its recommended you eat both by the smarter doctors. Its the sugar and high carb diet thats the problem.

Go on any Keto type diet and you can reverse high blood pressure, blood sugar, chance of stroke, chance of heart attack, fatty liver, type II diabetes, joint pain, inflammation of all types, skin problems, snoring, frequent urination and many other problems and get off meds. Dont fall for the high cholesterol scam either, Doctors are modern day drug pushers.

If you don't believe me, just go on YouTube and find any keto diet video, and just read all the true testimonials in the comment section from normal people that reversed many problems, and saved their lives.

Re: Eat clean and get off meds - 11/15/23 01:01 AM

I'm contemplating changing from my 12 hr rotating shift to 5 8s day shift in January for my health. I will not work 8 hr day more like 12 and 16 like normal but my scedual will be more consistent and my sleep and eating scedualed should line out some. I will also probably start exercising .

The big draw back will be only having 8 days off a mont to go hone vs the 14 a month I can have now. But the two days a month off comming off night shift are a wast some time it's tw days in shot after staying up 32 hrs after 3 or 4 days with 4 hrs of sleep. Than I have been working 4 or 5 of my days off a Month also so it won't be much different except I won't have the option to take my 7 days ain't a roll a month off like I do now

I'm not sure how I will handle less home time option. But I should make the same money in ot sleep and eat more consistently and if I start exercising I think a lot of my low back and nerve/ leg problems should get better.

Now my eating won't improve being away from home but that's the next step getting close to home.
Now when I was off work 5 months when sick I was eating what we grow hunt and raise and none of the junk I eat when away working. I lost 15 lb and felt better.

Re: Eat clean and get off meds - 11/15/23 12:39 PM

I’ve been low-carb for years. No bread, potatoes, sugar, etc. and I still consumed too many calories. January of this year I started getting serious about limiting my calories and lost 30 pounds in about four months. Went from 205 pounds to 175 pounds.

I’ve noticed lots of health benefits.

Heard it said this way: White Death - sugar, rice, potatoes, flour, pasta. Watch that stuff and also all the processed food including processed meats. Eat just about total wild meat and fish here and lots of wild fat and no issues. Eat cup of wild blue berries most every day too + seal oil. Most of u guys can not get seal oil but wild fish oil just so good - avoid fish oil from farmed fish. Lots of outdoor work/exercise too.

Learning to eat a healthy diet can go a long way to living a better life However some medications are a necessary evil to deal with. I take almost 2 dozen pills a day for a condition I have been living with for going on 15 years .Taking 3 to 6 pills 6 times a day wears me out But without them I would be in a wheelchair or a pine box .For those that have health issues that can be improved on by making better choices you can at least give it a try .

Being a picky eater makes my choices even harder to enjoy eating. I’m solid on the no sugar intake zip nothing in 2 years. No fries at fast food just a double burger and diet drinks or coffee. I went to Stake and Shake when I was in MO no diet drink options that was surprising tea was about it.

Buddy takes his meds and eats like it was never an issue Little Debbie and him are close friends and his A1C is lower than mine. mad

1 diet Dr Pepper a day 2 if it’s real hot 2 cups of coffee a day the rest is water after that. Water is the best thing I’ve found to keep the plumbing working. Been told to drink more water for years and kind of blew that off now I wish I started sooner.

Carrageenan in almond milk is a Polysaccharidsle and it helps store sugars in your body. Helps with getting cancer and diabetes. Basically it's not good for you.

You need to make sure the diet drinks have no Aspartame in it. I've read numerous articles on it that say Aspartame has many harmful effects including heart disorders and cancer.

Try a couple Ibuprofins, they act as a diuretic I think, anyways helps with the frequent urinations.

Try cut out dairy and see if that works with the swollen prostate and frequent urination.

Also, alot of so called "Heart Healthy" labeling is a farce. Whole grains are NOT good for you in any way. Neither is oatmeal, fruit and fruit juice, its very high carb. You wont get healthy eating them.

What you eventually realize is that you have to prepare your meals from single ingredient foods. When you walk into a supermarket there is only a couple isles of food you can eat. Produce and meat, fish and eggs, poultry.

Of course (unless you are Type 1 diabetic) go ahead and have a cheat day once a week, so you can still enjoy life and eating and be healthy. Its easy once you get the hang of it

You guys seem to have success with the low carb diet. I'd be worried about the long term effects. There are places on earth where people live long lives, many 100 year olds. They all eat lots of carbs, whole grains, beans etc.

longest lives were traditionally in Okinawa and S.e. Asia....no real grains until recent yrs with the exception of rice. The rice consumption is offset there by the lack of other carbs and alot of exercise in daily life. As the increase in western foods became common,...longevity has dropped.

What’s this A1C business. Can you check it at home?
Posted By: Law Dog

Re: Eat clean and get off meds - 11/16/23 04:49 PM

Not sure about a home test it’s a blood draw at the Dr. Office that goes through the lab to get results. If I have it right the results cover your last 3 months to get the A1C number.

Re: Eat clean and get off meds - 11/16/23 05:37 PM

At my yearly checkup in February my A1C was 9.1. Diabetic.

I got on the web and researched how to reverse it. Found out my diet with lots of potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, sweets (simple carbs) was the reason. That and diet sodas. When those hit your stomach your body pumps out insulin. Your cells are overwhelmed with the cumulative effect of insulin overloading and you become insulin resistant - diabetic. And the diet drinks are the worst because your gut tastes the sweet and pumps out insulin with no real glucose to process = accelerated insulin overloading and insulin resistance.

My doc put me on metformin. I stopped the diet drinks and virtually all simple carbs. I eat eggs, fish, chicken, game meats, fresh vegetables and fruits. Always make sure you mix protein with the complex carbs - fruits and vegetables (to dampen the blood sugar spikes). Like a sliced apple with peanut butter (non sugar) for lunch. Have a few nuts or cheese or jerky to add protien when you eat complex carb food. Chia seeds (3 T / pint) soaked in coconut almond milk (lactose intolerant) with a handful of blueberries mixid in is my on the road or fishing lunch. Two or three spoonfuls of coconut oil a day for cooking is healthy. Cinnamon , chromium picholinate capsule with every meal. And exercise.

Three months of that with the metformin my A1C was 5.8 - normal. I had lost twenty pounds, arthuritus was less and I had to cut my blood pressure meds way down. I told my doc I wanted to try it without metformin. He din't like it, but said try it and see me in three months. After three months my A1C was 6.1. The doc said just keep doing what your doin.

I admit to occasional cheating with a bit of dessert at a family gathering or whatnot once in a while. I use sugar free maple syrup on my oatmeal (with nuts). I use monkfruit / erithritol sweeters in recepes for treats. Nothing with ASPARTAME. But I feel much more healthy and can and will keep doing it for the long haul.

The american diet with all the simple carbs at the bottom of the food pyramid has caused our obesity and diabetes epidemic. But we can reverse it.

You might want to rethink your use of Erythritol. According to a study, Mayo Clinic says regular use of this as a sugar substitute has been know to cause cardiac problems and even stroke. A better substitute would be Stevia, a natural sweetener.
Posted By: Law Dog

Re: Eat clean and get off meds - 11/16/23 10:22 PM

Liquid Stevia is the best the crystal like sugar looking Stevia has added Erythritol to get to that sugar like consistency to it. Lots of sugars out there with different names that spike your levels.

I believe genetics plays a big part in health problems, as when I went on blood pressure pills I was 24 and had six pack abs, worked out, and ate healthy, but I made it 3 years longer than my father did when he went on them so I did beat the family odds.

Stick with whole foods, get PLENTY of protein, drink water or raw milk if you like dairy (i tolerate it well)
Stay away from processed foods
Get at least 10,000 steps a day
Get plenty of sunshine and get outside
Get at least 8 hours of sleep if you can
Do resistance training, either bodyweight or weights

Do this for 60 days, I bet your life will change.

When you go to the grocery store, get your stuff from the outside lanes. What you find there is the real food for the most part. Like meat, fish and vegetables and fruit. Once you head to the inside lanes thats where you see the bad stuff. boxed dinners processed and frozen ready made crap.
