Victor Snap Trap - 07/03/24 03:27 PM
I got a call from a lady who has a red squirrel living in her house and asked me to get rid of it for her. I've caught some in 110s, but never used the larger Victor Snap Trap for rats. I've killed many chipmunks with them. My question is: Will this trap kill a red squirrel?

Thanks. I know it kills chipmunks, no problem. But, I've had a grey squirrel get into one of my chipmunk traps and lost a couple traps from that encounter.

Yes, have caught many in them. Won't even move
If grey squirrels are around I drill a hole in the trap and wire or use a string and tie it to something. Even a limb for a drag. This is a good idea always as I have had housecats, coons, skunks etc.. make off with trap and animal when not tethered

If possible anchor trap to something or put trap in a weasel box . Has worked for me.

For red squirrels for sure. I use them on the 13 lined gophers and they are as big or bigger than red squirrels.

Yep, I drill a hole at the rear of the trap and run small piece of small snare wire the hole with a loop on the other end and stake it outside the rear of the box. My box doesn't have a bottom to it.
I made it to catch chipmunks, but works well of read squirrels too.

Yes, caught a few in weasel boxes using them for some reason

Got the red squirrel the first day and a mouse the second day. Used a salted in the shell peanut wired to the pan.
