Bear Creek Arsenal opinions - 01/11/25 05:35 PM

For you AR gurus on here:

Any experience or reviews of Bear Creek Arsenal uppers?

Looking at acquiring a 20" .223 Wylde (1:8" twist) for my Bushmaster 5.56.

Decent prices at BCA. Other dealers want nearly as much a complete rifle.

I just got a $58 6.5 Grendel barrel to swap out for the 5.56 that's on one of my ARs. I wasn't expecting much but it shoots maybe a touch over 1 moa.
I've also got one of their 7.62x39 side charging uppers. It is reliable and shoots as good as I can shoot with the open sights that are on it.

Their .350L is a piece of crap IMO. No experience with the others but that one would not cycle. Sent it back three times, the third time they sent me a different one, different style, still wouldn't cycle 5 rounds without jamming. Sent it back for a refund.

Have no direct experience with Bear Creek but I read somewhere that they were very good, or not so very good, on the same product... could be a quality control issue?

I think Wolfie has direct experience with them, by the way, where's he been?

I had one of their uppers in .243. It’s no longer with me due to being unreliable.

I've done over 30 builds for myself, family and friends. I've looked at Bear Creek a few time but never purchased to to varied quality reviews. I recommend looking at Green Mountain Barrels or Wilson Combat.

Hmm...

I'm wanting a longer barrel for my AR.

It is a Bushmaster patrolman carbine with the permanent high post, stationary front sight and front grip (like on military M16s). It doesn't show in the thermal view, but I want M-lok or other front end options.

I'm gonna be using a thermal scope on it and most shots will be 200 yds or less, but might be a few 300 yds.

I have a 16 inch side charging. 223 wylde for thermal hunting. It's been very accurate with everything I've thrown through it.

They're hit and miss. If you don't mind the possibility of it being unreliable junk, then go for it you might get a good one. I got one that had a junk bolt carrier, but I will say that barrel punches tight groups (1 in 8 twist)

Sure do. I spend the money on spikes tactical, BCM, or Aero now

I bought a complete 223 Wylde 16" from BCA on sale about five years ago. It was on sale for $300 shipped. It will shoot a inch at 100 easy enough. It has never jammed. I also got a 20" spiral fluted SS 233 Wylde 1/8 barrel about 8-10 years ago and it shoots real well. Never had any problem with it.

Their customer service was good, so not too much risk. If it sucks and they can't fix it they will give you your money back.

I've never had any trouble with bca or psa when building or buying guns for snowmachining.
