Tested the new sled and trapper box tonight

Posted By: Hutchy

Tested the new sled and trapper box tonight - 02/03/25 11:43 PM

Made the box from 1/4" UHMW.

Removes from the sled with quick release LinQ brackets
Still need to add removable mounts for my ice auger, chainsaw, transducer pole, rod bag, etc.

Love the new sled with the 900 ace four stroke motor.

Got a fisher and nice marten tonight too!

Nice looking ride. I will be anxious to see how your box hold up over time. Anything is lighter than plywood but at least it seems to last.

Hutchy's will run circles around mine. I am interested in his box set up. I kind of like it.

I would have made it square, but with the slant it fits with the backrest on it.

Tough to beat the older ones that you can actually lift!

That 900 is a real solid, reliable engine/machine for running lines. However, off trail, deep snow riding can be a real nightmare if you get stuck. Especially with that missing ski-loop.

I am not an overall skidoo fan as a brand, so I'm wrapping the yellow body panels and replacing the ski loops with black.

Took the first loop off, and they sold me the wrong black replacement. Haha

The right ones arrived today.

As for the front end being heavy, ya, i can feel that. Coming from a lightweight voyageur 550 fan it's noticeable.

I'm going to put some Polaris 9.5" pro float skis on it eventually. I bet that helps a ton.

I'm not a ski-doo guy either but good choice on that motor/track combo. That's a solid plan on the wide skis, and make sure you carry a spare belt. If you are by yourself and get that baby stuck badly, you may smoke the belt, and that's a wrap.

That’s awesome! I gotta make something up this summer. Right now I’ve just got a Skidoo bag in the rack, which is nice and tough with huge zippers.
A couldn’t drive a machine with A arm suspension like that though. The swamps or bush between them is way too nasty the first trip or 2. The pogo & skid are a must for me.

I do a bit of tight trail, deep powder, but the rest of what I do is running longer distances on lake ice and even some trail riding.

Towing flip over ice shack etc.

I figured it was a perfect combination for what I do. And double the fuel mileage at least.

And the 600 ace was only 30 lbs less, so 900 it was. The extra power is so nice on the lake

Wow Hutchy not used to seeing pictures from you without open water and fish. Good to see you out after the critters. Congrats!

Meh, i have never had pogo. Trapped with a lot of people and gone some goofy places and never felt hampered by a arms.

I mean, the shape of the belly pan is a bit better for snow but for me the performance and stability of the a arms is perfect.

Good machine Hutch. My 2012 550 tundra is super tippy and hard on fuel, but the crap it’s pulled us through is crazy. My replacement will probably be an expedition. A local CO bought a new one and he loves it, crazy good on gas in eco mode. $16000 was the price on a long track with no bells and whistles, but they come standard with cool stuff.

Looks good Huchy! I wish I had the room on mine like you have.
650 ace. Enough power and will pull lots of weight. Great on gas but a but narrow ski stance. Works great going through bush trails. Regular maintenance and it will last a long time. Just turned over 10000 kms…… 6213 miles lol

Had some plywood so I built a box. 4 ubolts with rubber tubing attached to the bars and tightened inside the box. 5 mins to take off.

Frozen coyotes 4 in the box. Fresh ones 6

Use the sled for retrieving big game and big coyote checks. Pulled a moose out of some nasty stuff a few years ago. Tied the head to the back of the sled but can’t find a picture

Nice!!

My voyageur 550 has 7800 hard miles on it, never been touched

Still 135 psi. I may rebuild it. It's a way more fun sled to drive, buy i want fuel efficiency and longevity now too

My rotopax fuel can first perfectly between the seat and the box.

Theres room for the two up LinQ backrest without fuel can.
