$30 trail cam footage - 02/07/25 11:29 AM

Picked up some of the newer little taco trail cams a little while ago. Finally got some footage on them ( was using too big of an sd card and couldn't get anything for a while laugh ) . promised some on here I'd post some footage of them on here when I could. This one did get a bit of a fogged up lense that went away after a day in the house though but still. Know that happened form my stealth cams when I had em

Idk I prefer them to my stealth cams when I had em, mainly because there easier to use I guess

can you guys use snares on the hogs ?

I would be backing cams up looking for snare locations for those hogs see where they come from and go to and look for good places to snare them

Well you know what pig poop looks like now. I'm wondering if that camera is missing some animals. Particularly smaller animals(happens more than most people realize with cameras). I'd think there would have been at least some coons and possums on that corn.

Maybe make a hog or cattle panel trap around that feeder, keep the barb wire at the top to discourage the cows, and catch all those hogs at once...

I use cheap cameras on my swamp and they work pretty good.

A lot of folks wouldn’t know pig scat if they don’t have a lot of pigs. A lot of folks wouldn’t know pig tracks if they don’t have pigs. The minute you showed the hair and droppings I knew you had pigs, lol.
I agree, here in the South unless you have dirt roads, sign can be hard to find. Ain’t met a trapper yet that can show me a coyote trail in pine straw or even which trail through the broomsedge one is using. Cameras are really a time saver for hogs and predator trapping. Don’t know of any combined best trappers on here that have enough traps to set every intersection or trail we have. I got a camera on an intersection now that I thought was going to be THE spot for critters. Big pines next to a 2yr old clearcut. So far, deer and a few rabbits…not the first predator, lol.
As far as the cameras, yeah they’re cheap and if you buy them from Walmart you can buy a 2-3 year warranty for about $3-5 extra bucks. Camera quits in that time or gets foggy, take it back and exchange it, lol. Those cameras are great for trails, I use the Spartans on actual bait sites when I need to know exactly when the pigs are there for killing purposes.
Good video Wolfie, thanks for sharing. I believe I’d figure the best approaches for different winds and make use of your thermal or NV!!!

Actually have no interest in killing them all at once. Having a sounder like that around full of smaller ones is more of a benefit then anything on this property. Hopefully they attract some big ones I'll be interested in but other then that maybe one or two for freezer meat. No really too much around for them to mess up so . Dad actually uses them for brush clearing

Doubt it , not a lot of either on the property and the ones around tend to stay around the edges. But these was only two days worth so

Yeah and I have some made up problem is the cows. They all tend to use the same trails I found and it will hold a pig it'll hold a cow

Legit all he has to do is walk about 300yd from the front door up this lil tail and boom lil o er 100yd which is a chip shot for that arc I built him. That and there's box stands on most of the main trails goin to that feeder so

Ur lucky. If u set a trap in that kind of cover around here u couldn't hardly get back to the truck before a coon or possum got in it. [Linked Image]

Yep if your not from down here you don't get it usually. I've tried to explain before but...yeah. there trails I've posting and folks said they looked dead and when I put a camera on there active as all get out. And inter sections... Lord
This is a decent chunk of the property

Re: $30 trail cam footage - 02/07/25 11:45 PM

Yes sir just all depends where your at. Lotta these cartel properties are pretty barren as far as food sources. No real point for them to be around when the neighbors property is running feeders , has deep pods and the like up year round. The most alot of these places get is some berries other then that I've found these coon and the like to act like coyotes more then anything. Had some luck though trapping them like cats this year .

You been out in the sun too long son! There is NO benefit to having any pigs on a property unless you are selling pig hunts

It looks you won't have to buy any pork this year.

Re: $30 trail cam footage - 02/08/25 03:58 AM

Like I said main deal is dad uses them for clearing under brush. Toss in some sour corn and and the place is bare earth for a few days. Actually cleaned out some fence lines like it. Other then that... It's no that their some .massive benefit it's more in the property they just don't have a ton to really be a massive problem. No super nice food plots, they only seem to root at the edge of the pastures in areas we really don't care about. Keeping them around is a bit of a food prep too, just wild pork . The big ones get taken care of I soon as I see em so . Idk it's an interesting little dynamic I guess
