Actor was selling some Williams traps and other traps last week, very reasonably, in Ohio.

I don't think the latter critter exists under 100 bucks

I've never seen a Williams cage, but as near as I could tell from photos, it had a gravity door. From what I could tell, the Williams and Wickenkamp are pretty close to being the same.

From my experience, good and cheap don't both apply to cage traps. You get one or the other, but not both. Cheap is Havaheart. Good is most of the rest. Spring loaded that would be Safegard and Tomahawk.

Cages that unlock upside down is huge benefit. They are way faster to empty your dispatched animal or can be rolled over from a distance to release unwanted catches. (think skunks) It's myth that caught animals will roll the cages while inside IMO. Other animals on the outside may roll them to get at the one inside but set on solid level ground they just don't get tipped over. Plus a simple stake next to them can guarantee they can't roll it.

ADC is right, never had a cage tipped over, can't say it would never happen but hasn't so far...and the gravity door you can roll and unlock itself is very handy to release unwanted catches and to keep your hands away from cage.....
You're still over thinking this cage stuff. Get the Duke cage trap, HD large or extra large and go trap some coons....you can upgrade if you wish once you have more experience, but you probably won't ever need to.

Williams had a different rod setup with loops where the rod along the side of the cage meets the rod on the peddle looked labor intensive but I’m sure he had a jig set up for making them.

I used to buy truck loads of them to re-sell. But I haven't gone down to Illinois to see him in 20 years. Then I saw a video yesterday of the exact same trap called by a different name. I just don't recall what that name was. I'm sure the cost went way up by now especially if it was sold out to someone else. He used to sell them at conventions for $35.for one, Or $30 by larger amounts. I used to set up next to him at every convention in our region. And call him before convention to put in my order. I paid $25 to sell for $35. They probably cost $80 now. I haven't done the circut in 20 years.

Mr. Williams has passed. There are a couple guys that bought the business, but I can't remember the name of the Business. I'm sure the video you saw were the new owners.
