Refinish Winchester wood for me?

Refinish Winchester wood for me? - 04/10/25 05:23 PM

I need someone to refinish the wood forend of a Winchester 94 lever action. Only the forend needs refinishing. I have the rear stock, and it has the Factory finish except for the butt pad. I bought the rifle in the mid 80's. I was very young and foolish. I didn't like the very light colored wood. I thought I would sand off the finish and restain it. Bad idea. As soon as I started sanding it I knew I made a mistake. I stopped right away. Not very much sanding at all. I eventually took off the wood and bought a plastic stock, put that on and left the rifle in the safe for 35+ years. I want to have the forend fixed to whatever shape someone can do for me. It does not have to be perfect. If they can put it back to stock color, great. If you want to refinish both pieces, okay. I just want to put the wood back on and cannot the way it is currently. The rifle is in .44 magnum and I have only shot it about 20 rounds or less. Please PM me if you are interested in refinishing the forend wood stock.

Whoever you select, give them both pieces so the wood will match.

Go on eBay and get you a bottle of John Kay’s Winchester oil. Follow his detailed instructions and do it yourself. It’s not hard, and the end result is as close to factory as I’ve seen.
