Used Vehicles & Tarriffs - 05/04/25 04:45 PM

Wondering if anyone has experienced more decent quality used vehicles on dealers lots.Shopping for a used run around car I noticed the avalibility seems to be higher than normal on decent quality used vehicles. Are buyers trading in for new to avoid future tariff increases?

I don’t think many folks were paying the inflated prices they were asking on used vehicles the inventory’s might of got out of hand. The dealer was asking $37 grand for my 2018 Tacoma off road trade in. I did not pay much more than that new it’s crazy.

I think you're right Lawdog, for awhile you'd been crazy to not buy new because of what they wanted for used.

New has warranty on it so that’s a plus in my book with used your not getting that included in the deal and no clue what your getting.

That seems to be the case. Lot more new car trades showing up at auctions the last week or so.

Cash for clunkers sure helped rid the road of some good deals.

Makes me sad the number of classics that got crushed on that scam.

That was a O'bummer program with a premeditated end game.

A lot of us still buy old stuff because that is all we can work on. I mentioned to wife the other day about getting an old truck, which she said where could I get parts? I told her I would vacation to Cuba and put them in my suit case duty free, lol.

I like the old ones just don’t want to be on the side of the road when on a trip so the new ones work better for that.

Not always true though. Know a guy that bought a new truck and it was a lemon. Warrantied yes, but still a pain to deal with the headaches. New or used, ya never know. I've always bought vehicles that were between 3 and 7 years old and never needed the warranty. Never had major issues.

Do your research is all I can say. Get a junker and it’s a lemon you’re worse off I think.

New vehicles are a terrible investment, losing roughly 60% of their value in the first 5 years. Im glad others are willing to buy new, otherwise I wouldnt be able to find a gently used vehicles that are a couple years old. Everyone has different priorities and needs.

Law dog, there's a difference between a good pre owned car and a junker. Lol
