Elk hunting

Our Elk area here opens Aug. 1 now. It is way too hot to even think about hunting so will wait till it cools off some. Could get a nice bull in the velvet if a person wants one.

wow that seems awful early.

sadly ill miss out on elk huntin this year.

Ours opens August 25th. I’m fortunate I have a walk in cooler

First week of Sept they were hot last year the year before that it was Sept 15.

i just wish i could go elk hunting again went 8 years ago to colorado public land never got one but man what an experiance.

Been getting ready around here, shooting bow waiting for September in WY. Got dad’s old 300 test loaded and tack driving if it comes to that for October. Have a bunch of cameras out here for my wife’s October wife tag. Come on elk season!!!

Looks like I am going to get to go elk hunting again. With my legs getting severly weak and withered, one of the effects of kidney failure. I got my permit to for disabled to hunt from the vehicle and an old friend said I can get on the place he care takes. Have stands set up so I can get a nice clean close shot with my long bow, can't draw my compound any more from having them cut the musles during one of the many surgeries I had. That really is a blessing, road hunting here is packed with folks come hunting season

Our bow season season starts the 30th of this month


On a side note ....I see UT has raised their NR limited entry elk tag to 2000 grand....only the rich ...

Could of ended the hunt this morning but it is to hot here!

In Nevada antelope starts Aug 1 , deer the 10th and it varies on elk but i think there are some Aug 1 dates for cows and bulls start a little later.

I am going to head over to WY to do some fishing the second week of September (after the big 3 day weekend).
going to use my 'free' fishing license and scout for some elk at the same time in unit 40. Just looking for a cow this year but hope to draw a bull tag next year if the points creep ever stops long enough for me to get a tag.
Plan on hitting the North Tongue, (thanks for the suggestion) and any good spots to camp or fish in the area is always appreciated.

We have some cooler weather coming for later in the weekend, with a cooler to hang one in you might have decent weather to hunt crowheart.
Our cow season opens Aug 15, usually too hot then as well, might give it a go in Sept though for a cow.

No elk this year this year for me I was invited to tag along on a couple WY antelope hunts with a couple guys that drew tags and bird hunt but the wife has a family thing so I get the dogs to watch.
