Wild pig and game with bright blue meat! - 08/07/25 10:03 PM

Per Yahoo news: In California, feral pigs, trapped/hunted to eliminate the populations, have been found to have bright blue flesh indicating they have ingested a poison or another animal that ingested the poison. Caused by a die in the bait that is used to show the meat is not safe to eat.

It is a poison called kaput. They are using it in Texas. I don't really agree with it. I would rather them put a bounty on pigs then poison them. They say feral pigs call is multi-billion dollars worth of damage. That means they could probably pay a few hundred dollars per pig for a bounty.

To be fair there's some spots in texas where hogs hole up in that you can't hardly get anything in to kill them

They tried a bounty down at Benning, paid per tail. Noticed the numbers weren't dropping. Someone went looking and discovered local slaughterhouses were selling tails.

They better way would be some form of commercial sales of them.

I doubt there's much that you could bait and poison hogs with, that wouldn't kill pretty much every other omnivore, including some migratory birds.

They have developed toxicants, the most interesting being sodium nitrite the same pink salt used to cure pork. The difficulty has been finding a delivery mechanisms, feeders, that exclude other mammals like raccoons and bears. Sodium nitrite has lower residual secondary toxicity than other toxicants like the blood thinners used in rodenticides.

As stated, pigs have been poisoned

Surprised the Commiefornians would allow such

Europe is fine with poisoning anything that moves but don't you dare trap it
