Shoulda made it a big study with some polar bear mounts and rugs and big overstuffed leather chairs! But to each his own!

If I had money I would have a big study with books and fireplaces and such. And a hedge labyrinth

The difference is tax payers paid for those. Trump and private donations are paying for this one.

Apparently some folks wanted to pay for it? Not sure why else they'd be crying about it.

Maybe they can use it for an illegal alien detention center when they aren't holding dances and whatnot.

A ballroom….……sounds as useful as a #1 jump for back foot beaver catches! Definitely a “bold, necessary addition”…….but not surprised. Happy trapping! ScottW

Beats tents for gatherings.

The Democrats are mad because the taxpayers aren't paying for it and that means they can't skim off the money.

About as useful as Obomammy's basketball court.

Ballroom= big open space equipped to serve large numbers of guests

What we might call a multi-use facility

Something the 200 year old structure somehow never was equipped with, go figure.

I was surprised there wasn't a ballroom already. It will be extremely useful to have one due to all the functions that can be held there.

Most likely, due to it being originally designed as a private residence devoid of any european palatial design features. Palace of Versailles features and architecture just wouldn't do for a republic. Also why office space is limited.

It’s always baffling to me the number of sportsman democrats that the cheese state has. It’s as if they are not willing to see the change in that party over the past 30-40 years…. This isn’t just TDS, they help to keep their state a blue one in state and federal as well. I realize there is a good # of conservative voters also, but the fence riders are the real goofs in this arena. I seriously can’t imagine being an outdoorsman and not getting behind anything that keeps the insane left out of power.. any other choice is like cutting off your own hand.. BTW, an area to host foreign dignitaries and other important guests at our countries shrine of freedom is probably a good idea. More security, climate controlled, and let’s face it, a giant white tent on a lawn is a joke as had previously been the accommodations. Also this East wing isn’t in any way, shape, or form a part of the original White House. It was an addition built in 1902 for the ladies to hang in mostly. Making the White House Great Again, I love winning…

I like that it's not taxpayer funded. Many of the great projects in Europe during the Golden age were privately funded by wealthy donors, hopefully this sets precedent to encourage that again

It's not that we are democrats ,but we live a little different , I don't actually care about a privately funded renovation
I get a multi purpose event space

we want the insane left and the insane right kept out of power and the middle is even a weird place we don't want to occupy because it is drug in directions by the poles.

I would say we blindly support no one , we want a legit statement of intent and we want the words and actions to line up with that statement of intent.

also your not wrong about us being independent Independents make up the second largest group of registered voters in WI Rep , then independents , then dems although they are all close to an even split

Isn't Wisconsin the birthplace of the American progressive movement? That would explain a lot why the support for democrats and rino type republicans.

Could you imagine what kind of dump the place would be if Congress had to foot the bill this entire time?
Posted By: GREENCOUNTYPETE

Re: East wing - 10/24/25 01:16 PM

also as sportsmen in WI we get really bad Republican candidates , like bankers from Cali running as Wisconsinites who haven't lived here a full calendar year in 30+

they sell out to China to let them pollute out waters with some real nasties - fox con , why did fox con want to build here , because if they could pull a massive amount of water from Lake Michigan they could dilute the waste enough that it was within compliance levels

they almost always start talking about selling our public lands

often start issuing permits for things highly questionable to our water quality.

we get some really questionable candidates who don't seem to have the interests of sportsmen , conservation , or water quality in mind so it is hard place to be.

on the gun side I am like , you should have suppressors , concealed carry and Machine guns as your constitutional right.

you should keep a lot of your pay check

we should be reducing budgets

but we have to do budgets in a smart way and not just replace it with other new spending.

It's also the birthplace of the Republican Party, so like most states, its a mix of all types.

Spot on.

People have their head somewhere if they can't see the Democrat party is taken over by the insane haters of what the U.S.A is. And for a gun owner, hunter and Trappers to vote that way is the worst.

My understanding is there is a need for a bigger venue, to tear it down you would have to be a Dem. or an idiot. but I'm getting redundant.
