Are mink pans worth it?

Are mink pans worth it? - 11/07/25 01:44 PM

Been playing around with the idea of putting mink pans on my #11 and # 2 longs..
I saw the barker mink pans but didnt know if the barker #1 mink pans for #1 and #1.5 size traps would work.
I had originally thought about using soup can lids and using rivets to hold them on the pan… I did a few , but I felt those lids were way too soft and flimsy.

Are they even worth it??

I say yes if they are the Wild River pans,

Mink trapping used to be my favorite trapping, but since WI took ROW trapping away and poor prices I may never trap them again. I personally never put Mikes Wild River pans on but only because I am a procrastinator, they will increase the catch.

I have used the Barker mink pans for many years, they work very well.

They made my #2 coils sell faster and for much better money.
Worth it? Less tension, bigger target.
Trending? Definitely.

And all your rat traps should have the larger pans on them.

The Barker pan 1 will work on your 11s. It should work on the 2s as well but the 2 size may also fit. I would have to check.

Thanks for the link,,, I checked it out.
Unfortunately they don’t have pans for the older victor #11 ,, but those pans for the#2 old style victor looks great.

Yes bigger pans, that's why the Victor 1 1\2 coil with pinch pans were so popular.

Ditto backroadsarcher on pinch pans, only problem was when coon got into trap they tore pan off and most times unfindable !

Trim down some soup can lids and either rivet or glue them onto the existing pan. Or sheet metal. Nothing to it.

I originally tried the soup can lid’s idea… well kinda… I took a few lids and pop rivet them to some pans… I just thought the lids were flimsy… pretty weak,,, if a critter gets caught,,, I’d think he’d just pretzel the lid.

Especially when a coon gets caught,,, because we all know that it’s not a matter of if it’s a matter of when,
