Klamath Falls Sale
I am at the sale now. So many cats, both east and west. Also several hundred rats, some otter, nutria, beaver etc.
Quite a few grey fox, too.
I will try to post pics later. Phone pics too big.

That beaver is worth more than any I sold at Glenn's Ferry....its a Picasso. Abstract art buyers would snap that up.

That beaver looks like groney put it up, lol. They just going to shave the hair off it anyway, no need for it look NAFA approved anymore.

Re: Klamath Falls Sale - 03/20/26 11:33 PM
There was a lot of excellent fur handling on display. I was impressed on some of the otter, in particular. Also, some nutria that were absolutely clean. I had forgotten how black nute skins are. Lots of average skunks, and a few coon. Some of the coon might have been put up by the same trapper that did that tortilla-looking beaver. Some very nice coyotes, also. See what they bring.
Should have a better idea how prices work out tomorrow. They clear the tables of all fur tonight, so anything that didn't sell today must be re-submitted tomorrow morning, along with all the fur that comes in from trappers that didn't get to the auction today.
I must say, there is room for improvement, as to getting fur checked in and on the tables. It took me 2-1/2 hours to get 2 items on the floor. And having to do it all again tomorrow in the event of no sale seems, well, not efficient at all.

It was a so-so sale for me. Some critters brought more than I expected, some less. Beaver were a bright spot.

Re: Klamath Falls Sale - 03/21/26 03:54 AM
I didn't think so. I put in a true 80"+ beaver taken in last days of December that got a high bid of $35.00. I no-saled it.

Copy. I sold 20 beaver at an average of $33.75. Not the greatest I suppose but not terrible either.

Re: Klamath Falls Sale - 03/21/26 04:22 PM
That is a good average. And I saw a stack of 20 there, if those were yours. I just expected better than average, as an 80" beaver certainly isn't average!

I wonder if yesterdays FHA news on beaver helped you out Mike. I had 104 really nice beaver at Glenn's Ferry (mostly coastal) and averaged $24.55 before commissions).
I saw that blanket hatters all sold for $43 yesterday @FHA.

Yesterday's FHA news probably helped out everything except coyotes and coons. Red Fox doubled, in some sections like semi's, tripled or more, Otter up substantially, Mink through the roof, Beaver were better, Cats justified the country price and even did better, Ranch fox are up 50%. Things are looking much better. Mink I think will hold up for a good while, they are a staple of the industry and ranch mink numbers are way down, along with all the millions of ranch mink skins that spent years in freezers that are now gone. Now I'm rooting for coons and coyotes!

Rocky Mountain Fireworks and Fur bought my beaver, Carl. The fur handling I saw on most of the beaver was somewhat shoddy.

Re: Klamath Falls Sale - 03/22/26 01:07 AM
For those of you not familiar Oregon bobcats, there are 2 sections, eastern and western, based on which part of the state.
Reading the sale report that petcoon posted.
Bobcat. Any cat that is NOT from Oregon
Bobcat - eastern. Bobcats trapped in the eastern part of Oregon. Much better quality. NOT eastern US
Bobcat - western. Bobcats trapped in the western part of Oregon. More red and poorer bellies. NOT western US.
The above infomation is very important because some cat trapper in New York is going to look at the numbers and think WOW $921.00 for eastern cats!!

We took 6 eastern cats to that sale on Saturday averaged $1503 my high cat was $2475. I was happy

Re: Klamath Falls Sale - 03/23/26 04:23 PM
Holy cow!!! Those are fantastic numbers. I can remember OTC sales where all 6 cats together would have brought $1503.00 or thereabouts. The cat market this year has been unbelievable!!
Good job.

Those kind of results will pay for a lot of gas spent roaming the two tracks. Good deal!
