Geskamina lake - 07/09/18 03:30 PM

I'm looking for all the info I can get about geskamina lake, I'm planning on buying some property on the lake. Is it just fly in only or is there a trail I can take 4 wheelers? Also hunting fishing etc. I'm planning on this just being a vacation property for now.

Fly in only, or snow machine in the winter from Nenana or Manley Hot Springs.

Might want to go there before bidding on a parcel. Could be a lot of wet areas

Excellent, thanks white. I'm planning on going up the 1st of August, I just want somewhere that's not going to be crowded and people will leave me alone.

Looking at Google Earth, there are 4 cabins on the lake. I know the owner of one. Are you buying an existing camp or just property? Check it out good. Like White said, some of the shore will be swampy.
You might find it crowded during moose season but otherwise fairly quiet. Geskamina is less than an hours flight from Fairbanks. I think the lake is stocked with trout by ADF&G. Pike in there also I think.
There are other places in the state with a larger variety of wildlife, fish, and easier access then Geskamina. Tho easier access usually means more people.

Then why would you buy a lot in a SUBDIVISION?

You know that the lots there are a (state) subdivision, right?

Alaska is big but you will never get away from people. I go out to some pretty remote places and I still run into other people.

I did look at Google earth and seen the cabins, the flight in from Fairbanks doesn't seem to bad.

Pete I know it's in a subdivision but I had to compromise with the wife, she wants some sort of civilization, she says if we got a place out in the middle of nowhere she'd never see me again.

Malukchuk unfortunately you are right, but I sure do have a better chance of finding it up there than down here.

I did not claim it was "civilized," only that it was a subdivision! Good luck compromising with the wife. Have you mentioned to her that she will need a Super Cub flight to go shopping?!!!

Haha well Pete I may have left a few things out. I only mentioned it was a subdivision she has certain images of what a subdivision is, so who am I to tell her she's wrong? We've got friends in soldotna that want us to move there, granted it's pretty but it's just a little crowded.

White we're usually out of phone service anyways so that's not a deal breaker.
