41 pound black beauty

I haven't posted much this season, due to terrible weather it has been a slow winter for us out here. With the late freeze up we decided not to target fox this season. Got a few cats and a few wolves. Today we had our biggest wolverine we have ever caught, 41lbs. Using a sennekr snare he didn't twist too much before expiring.

Not sure I've ever seen one that dark. Would like to see a picture of it once it is cleaned up and on a stretcher.

nancy, what is your cell i will text them too you. 35 inches nose to base of tail, when holding up after skinning 60 inches. feet are still in, head has been taken out without staring eyes or anything like that.

Same here- those yellow matched set of markings , very unique ! Almost a perfect echo in pattern on both sides !

Beautiful . Are the darker one's worth more ?

Lighter wolverine with distinct diamonds (as long as the hair is long and undamaged) seem to bring the best prices. Normally private sales, either for ruffs/ trim or for taxidermy, bring a better price than selling on the regular raw fur market.

Personally, I find the darker ones more attractive. But the bottom line is that ANY wolverine is a fine catch! And a 41 lb wolverine is a really really big one. Way to go Jon!

Thanks guys, and Rick Pete is right, we have always sold bright diamonds easier than the darker ones. However with the size of this one, and the jet black back, we are asking a touch more than we normally would for a black one, or we will keep him.
