Consider that the Troopers may have intentionally misinformed the news folks in the hopes that someone might be more likely to rat-out someone who is "illegally" trapping: just a thought.

Could be Waggler. A bunny hugger might not turn in their neighbor for stealing from a trapper, but might for illegal trapping.

Or maybe KTUU staff is too dumb to tell the difference between trapping and stealing from a trapper...
