Kodiak is the North West edge of black tail range in kodiak
Some winters are tough on them
But looking good this past week, pre rut and lots of fat on em
Buddy had bear tag but cold no action,,just a sow and cub trying out before denning
As always the perfect silver fox but not with a 06 and 220 grains

Beautiful deer, scenery, and Dolly.
Trolling for bears is funny. A good idea when intentional. I remember the first article I read about a shot being a dinner bell on Kodiak.
We unintentionally did that by smelling fishy after a great day of catching trout and not even keeping any. One brown was pacing us about 25 yards to the downwind side. Carried the .454 in my hand for a couple hundred yards. My wife started singing and it veered away and all was well.

Great pictures ,thank you for posting them .I almost pee my pants when I hear the name of that island ! My old buddy who now lives in AK. told me of his bow hunting experience there .He told some local there that he knew all about bears as he experienced them often in Mt.After the first couple of hours there he was a NEW BELIEVER and ready to get on the ferry for home !

I thought that too afterwards.
She has a nice voice.
It was just the sound of the human voice and maybe her choice of song - I wish I was an Oscar Mayer Weiner.
