Anyone else feel it?

Earthquake. Mild here in Anchorage, thank God. They always scare me.

Yep. The wife was in Palmer babysitting the grand daughter and ran under a overhang, said it was a pretty good shake. I was on the second floor at JBER and had a earth shaking experience with a young lady in her office She looked at me funny when I ran to the window after that big jolt.

You all get to have all the fun ha ha I'm glad it wasn't any worse than it was .

I felt one that hit here in Montana when I was half way asleep in my chair and thought someone ran into the house ha ha it was a one thump and done deal .

Hoping it shook the snow build up off my marten poles.

Not many quakes in Idaho James. Just mass murders!

I love earthquakes, the two largest I've experienced were 6.9 and 6.7; awe inspiring.
A good place to encounter them is on Adak island; pretty much nearly a daily occurrence, with noticeable felt earthquakes every week or two.

About five years I was staying on the upper floors of the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage and woke up in the middle of the night and the building felt like it was swaying from side to side in the sky. Real freaky feeling. I always heard of the cables that quake proof them tall structures but got to see one in action that time.

I was on the third floor of Providence hospital. Two really sharp jolts.

I had to go down to the first floor after that but of course they had shut down the elevators

Ha, we've had several quakes here the past couple of years. Still having aftershocks of the last big shake in 2020. With the price of ammunition nowadays the killers have resorted to using knives.

Yeah I don't know that 7.0 a few years back was close...and violent. No desire to try a 7.1

The worst I experienced was when I lived on the big Island of Hawaii. Often quakes are felt there , as that whole shelf is in constant movement , a lot like the Aleutians, and in particular, Adak and the Sandpoint shelf off the beginning of that chain.

One of them, was so strong the house I was in seemed to begin to break timbers, and I hastened outside to ride it out. That was a 6 something scale, close to 7. The condos next door , made of concrete and not wood, had long fissures from bottom to top along the sides after that. The next biggest was when I was in a tent in Volcanoes Natl. Park. The ground was almost liquid and the trees swayed , though the air was still. That one I actually liked, and marveled in the sounds and power of the earth , in full focus , not distracted in something falling on me.

There have been several since I lived in the Rockies , but none such as those in HI. One I heard, late at night in summer , my window open. I thought it was a roll of thunder at first, but the pitch and echo was wrong. I didn't think of a quake right then, as it was only the sound I heard, with not a vibration felt. The rumble continued for a bit, then stopped abruptly. All was completely still , until it stopped the noise. Then I felt a fast, quick jolt. That was it. There was no echo after it quit, as thunder is. Then I realized what it was. The morning news confirmed it, with origins in the range along the big lake in N. Idaho . Amazing that rumble was heard all the way into Montana , ending with that soft jolt as soon as the sound stopped. Like the slight jerk of a truck coming to halt.

I remember seeing photos and reading of some experiences of AK folks during the big one of the 60's. Wish there were on the spot videos of that event . Would have been something to see.

Must have been terrifying. Many who were there thought the world was coming to an end. Thing lasted almost 5 minutes...

Was in providence PACU, awake enough to recognize the earthquake. A few patients got nervous. Most of the staff were barely phased.

2020 the one here near me was 6.5. That's the one we're still having aftershocks from.

You mean there are earthquakes down in Idaho? I thought we'd be getting away from them by moving there.
