Caught this cool wolverine today. Does anyone have a recommendation for a AK taxidermist? Should I skin it like usual or do I need to make different cuts?

Freeze it whole, and let the taxi do the cutting.
Depending on the form, they may want a dorsal cut, or a ventrical cut.

Joe Romero at Aurora WIldlife Arts. Wolverines are his specialty. Hopefully he hasn't retired.

Tundra Tanning & Taxidermy in the wasilla area
I sent my wolverine out for tanning last march and got it back in may, granted it wasn’t taxidermy they still did a great job and got it done quick

Always been impressed with Jesses work. Everyone I know that has used him has been satisfied with the outcome and timeline.

Nice wolverine, Big Finn. I do not have a taxi to recommend, but I would like to hear of what comes out of your tanning/taxi search. My resources seem to be aged out.

This raises a red flag with me. Isn't this the same place that Matt ( ALASKAN) had such a bad experience with 10-15 year ago ? TJ can you weigh in on this ? Hopefully I am wrong.

This one has traveled many thousands of miles in checked bags and carry on, been handled by well over 2,000 kids and a few adults over the last 4 years. It had the rub in the middle of it's back when shot. They did a good tanning job for me. [Linked Image]

That tail looks peculiar to me.

It's folded a little from the way I threw it down. The leather is really soft and supple.

Other folks have been very satisfied with their tanning. I've always sent to moyles. Might have to try them out

Re: Wolverine for taxidermy - 01/03/23 05:42 PM

Thanks all. Yes Bronco first time I came here I thought this is wolverine country. Just below tree line in the alaska range with caribou, sheep and moose. All three have been caught within 2 miles and the last two in the same set
