Forest Service may ban hunting in parts of MI - 12/25/10 08:11 PM
This is a serious threat not only to those in MI I suspect...
http://www.gunreports.com/news/news/Gun-Hunting-Ban-in-Michigan_2564-1.html (Columbus, OH) - As a result of a recent anti-hunting court ruling, the U.S. Forest Service is starting a formal review of its Management Plan for the Huron-Manistee National Forest to consider banning hunting with firearms in some areas.
In September, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Forest Service’s regulations required that it consider banning hunting with guns on lands designated as “semi-primitive.” The Court found that the noise associated with gun hunting could harm the quality of the recreational experience of hikers, backpackers, and cross county skiers.

Not only that, but this is a dangerous precedent...I've run into more hikers and cross country skiers than I care to count here in national forest land, with the attitude of they own it and hunters should stay out. Now imagine if they could sue to keep us out...I guess I'll turn into a real rebel then...

This is quite important, to prevent the banning of firearms hunting. We need to slam them with comments opposing the changes.

out west the Forest Service are closing thousands of miles of Roads on National Forests. Not more wood cutting no more hunting. Now you can walk in or ride a horse.
This is the stepping stones for checking us out to just see what they can get away with.................most of us will just go along with it.
Now me on the other hand I see this as a great trapping opportunity. In my area they have closed down roads but I just go in the back way on my quad and now have trapping areas that no one uses anymore....................As state after state gets themselves so far in Debt that they cannot afford to hire or keep Forest Ranges or Game Wardens on the payroll we will have all those areas all to ourselves AGAIN.
