Deer corn - 10/23/18 04:35 PM

I know it's probably a stupid question but I have been wondering for years and can't get an answer... why buy deer corn over whole/shell corn around here it's the same price for same size bag but ultimately there is a lot less corn in the deer corn, so why do people buy it

I don't. I order it with the rest of our feed each Wednesday if I need some. Same price for three times as much here. I got a bag of deer corn once and didn't see a difference.

Here: $17 a 30 lb. bag of deer corn, $15 for a 100 lbs. of shelled corn.

15$ is really high at least for where I live you normally never see corn here for over 7$ a bag but normally it's about 5

Gotcha everyone here sells a bunch of ear corn every year all through and right before deer season until they run out I guess

most every farm round here has corn pickers that shell it. but there are a few that use a tow behind picker that just shucks it

I just gave $6.70 here for 50 pounds of shelled corn. I got 1,000 pounds and that will last about a month. Bunch of pigs is what they are but they sure are fun to watch!

The ethanol bill expired so farmers aren’t getting subsidy money per bushel from the government anymore. Now we can afford to buy it for deer again. During the ethanol bill, I was feeding apples instead of corn. I can get it for $5.50/bushel here. A bushel is about 56lb of shelled corn. Now, I trap instead of hunt so I spend my corn money on traps.
