Trapping limitations - 08/01/20 01:55 PM

Is there any limitations on trapping in your state? For example in Kentucky I can’t use anything bigger than a #2 on land or any animal. So what restrictions do y’all have?

I can’t set snares or conibears on land, they have to be completely under water

Sounds like your restrictions are pretty simpler to what we have here

o4,while snares must be totally submerged in Mo.,cable restraints are legal.I did the MO. convention for 21 straight years and have also trapped there.
If my wife and I were younger,we would probably make the move to mo.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the cable restraints! That’s so cool

Can't set any trap with a 10" jaw spread or larger above 10" of water.

Trapping rules for Pennsylvania = 1 fisher w/permit - 1 bobcat w/permit - 1 otter w/permit - coon, fox, muskrat, mink, opossum, weasels are unlimited - beaver 20-60 depending on WMA. You can HUNT coyotes, opossum, skunk, & weasel all year w/no limits

Can't set for coon with footholds unless they are Rubber-Jaw or a DP.

That’s dumb! What if you catch a coon in a regular jaw trap? Or make fox sets with a 1.5 regular jaw trap and catch a raccoon? Canadians now I get why leftlane gives you a hard time grin

We can’t set kill traps on land and we can trap beaver till March!

Lots here, but by far my least favorite is that we have to check our killer sets once a day. Makes otter trapping a real pain, when one might move through every couple weeks, and I have to travel a couple hours to have a real shot at getting one. Also, I wish we could have 330s and 280s half submerged.

Yeah, I know it's dumb. We can keep it if we catch it in a predator set. lol
