The top 'yote was a jip, caught in a Duke #1.75, offset, 4x4, at a set I learned from Barry Goe, with coyote scat & Southern Snare's Coyote Urine.
The middle coyote was a vocal male, caught in a Sleepy Creek #1.75 offset, 4x4, at a 2-Scat set, using Southern Snare's Coyote Urine, Mark June's "Coyote Frenzy", and coyote droppings.
The bottom was another jip, caught in a Duke 650 offset, 4x4, at a urine post set, using Southern Snare's Bobcat Urine & Mark June's "Smokey Post."

Re: 2021-2022 Trapping Season - 12/08/21 11:10 AM
When does everybody check their traps? I trap one farm at a time and get up at five thirty to walk their before school, I usually run 3-4 traps in good locations and a couple dogproofs if there is a big ridge or a creek that runs through the property. In a couple weeks when we get out of school for christmas break and I have tidme to check I have a little over a half dozen farms to trap and will have out roughly fifty canine sets and 75 water sets for mink coon rats and beaver, so break this year should be a good one.
Do ya'll check before or after school and how many sets do you run?

Nope it'll be my fourth, the first I caught nothing, the second I only ran dp's and caught a few coon, last season I almost strictly water trapped but dabbled in fox trapping some, this will be the first season I have seroiusly targeted canines. But I've always wanted to catch a coyote since that first season.

Got these two jips yesterday! #9 & #10 for the season! Cooler temps are sure helping!
The first one was caught in a Sleepy Creek #1.75 close-jaw 4x4, that Strained Chains Trapline Modifications Canadian-jawed for me, at a dirt hole set, using Young’s Bait & Lure Co.'s "Ambush" predator bait, Southern Snares' "Bango Tango" bobcat gland lure, and Winter Wildlife Control's Bobcat Urine. Left paw pad catch...no way she was getting out of that rascal!
The 2nd one was caught in a Duke 550, at a Flat Top Set, using Young’s Bait & Lure Co.'s "Ambush," and Predator Potion's "Predator Bait #1", in addition to Southern Snares' Mink urine. Right paw pad catch once again!

Coyote #11 for the season is on the books and I have reason to celebrate! I've been chasing this guy for 13 months! Caught him in November of 2020 by two back foot toes in a WOLF CREEK #3 dogless. When I arrived he popped out of the trap and jetted out of there! Since then he's be haunting me, stealing bait, scratching off pan covers, etc.
Well, today I finally nabbed 'em! He fell for the old 2-scat set, using red fox & coyote scat, with Winter Wildlife Control's Red Fox & Coyote urine, plus Mark June's "Predator Frenzy" lure. That's a Duke #1.75 offset that he's in. His fur is now successfully on a Sleepy Creek coyote stretcher!

Re: 2021-2022 Trapping Season - 12/17/21 12:46 PM
Two more rats today, up to eleven in five checks out of five traps, don't think i'm doing too bad for just playing with a couple sets for them. Tommorrow I'll be getting a few things ready for my christmas break trapline and loading up my chariot...... When was the last time you saw a rat caught like this?
Posted By: AuthorTrapper
Re: 2021-2022 Trapping Season - 12/17/21 08:14 PM
#12 for the season, and boy he was in BAD shape! Was glad to get this one out of the equation. That's what trapping is about: to maintain a healthy population and keep diseases like THIS from spreading.
Caught him at a scent post set, in a Sleepy Creek #1.75 offset 2x2, using Winter Wildlife Control's Bobcat urine, and Blakeley's Trapping Supplies' "Predator 360." Left hind paw -pad catch...if he had a pad. That paw was a club. What do y'all think? Natural deformity, old injury?
Mange?

I got two foxes today and missed one at two different sets lol.
Both foxes were caught in mb 450s at step down dirtholes with leggetts fox #2. One looked good but the other had mange.
The fox I missed again has worked my sets two days in a row, he has figured out how to tell where the trap is then he uses his toenails to pull my pan cover off neat as can be then digs the hole out from the side, he'll have to slip up eventually though.
If anyone wonders what my sets look like this is pretty much it. They vary some depending on soil type and ground cover but thats pretty much as fancy as I get.

Last week wasn't the greatest ... no coyotes, but at least we got a 'cat! Top coon was caught in a Duke 550, at a Flat Top, using Mark June's "Widowmaker", Predator Perfect's "TX Twister", and Winter's Red Fox urine. Middle coon was also caught in a Duke 550, at a Flat Top, using Predator Potion's "Predator Bait #1", Young's Bait & Lures' "Ambush", and Southern Snares' Mink urine.
Last of all, Mr 20# Tom Kitty was caught in a Duke 650, at a set I learned from Barry Goe, using red fox scat, and Winter Wildlife Control's Red Fox urine.

Thanks for keeping this thread going guys. It's not really looking like I'm going to be doing much trapping at all this season but I may be able to do a few rats in the spring. I dunno.
Great pictures and catches guys.

Caught my first coyote ever today! Mb-550, small dirt hole, June's Widowmaker, a little bit of Gusto, and some bobcat urine. It has been raining the past few days so the catch circle was a mud pit.
Congrats! Widowmaker is good stuff!

Got another coyote today! Bridger #2 dogless, small dirt hole, Dunlaps coyote gland lure, Reuwsaats coyote urine, and some scat from the first one I caught. She was at the same gate I caught my first one at.

Pretty soon I'm going to make an order for some trapping supplies and then I'm going to work on my traps.

Well basically all my traps are ready because I got them ready last year then moved and didn't/couldnt trap last season.
Went through my stuff today and got a bunch of it upstairs.

I've been modding a bunch of new land traps, and setting up chains on water traps, only 151 days till our season starts

Do you butterfly stake rattrapper or do you earth anchor or both?

Just double staking two 18 inch rear stakes, I tried the earth anchors last year and broke drivers, and bent the stakes going in, had a heck of a time pulling traps, so I decided it wasn't worth it.
