Best 330 setter ? - 12/09/18 12:38 PM

Looking for opinions on what 330 setter to buy. Up till now I've been using a rope. Finding I'm wearing myself out running through a dozen or more traps in a day just setting them.

I have several styles but I prefer setters with locks- gives you an extra set of hands

How do the locks fair with ice? I would guess they freeze up.

I haven't had any issues with it freezing, I do most of my beaver trapping after they're chewing 1" of ice. I imagine if it did, you could still use it as a conventional setter.

While the setters with locks are nice, I prefer the aluminum setters because of the weight. Anyone know of aluminum setters with locks?

RTS Setters for me. Might take a little more time but they are locked in position after every squeeze of the handle.

2X. Again the RTS allows two hands for the trap.

I have a feeling the rts aren't going to like below zero and water.

I got mine at Trapper Arts... I believe it was $36.00 and some change.
Adam and Art are great guys to deal with

I have used my RTS setters in single digit weather where I had to chop through 6" of ice to get the trap and critter out of the water. They still worked just fine.

Granted, we do not have those condition here very often but I do not handle 330s without RTS setter. I have a spare in my truck if I happen to leave a set laying somewhere to get me by until I can get back and retrieve the one I left.

Trap setters don't freeze. If they do give them a good whack with an axe or your spare setters and they are good to go.

It is a lot easier to just set by hand. Once you figure it out no need for setters.

RTS Setters for me too. I won’t set water traps without them. No problem whatsoever with them freezing up for me. It doesn’t get any easier. You can set a 330 with one hand.
I like them so much, I got a set of them for the gift table at Minktoberfest. I’m not sure who ended up with them, but I’m willing to bet they like them too.

John doesn’t need setters, he just bites the Springs with his teeth.

I’ve used rts setters since they came out love them. I had a set that where like the rts but cheaper made but they only lasted one season before they broke.

Thanks to all for the positive comments on the RTS SETTER!

Obviously it would be my choice as well. wink

Forester79, If you do end up buying an RTS SETTER and don't get along with it just give me a call, my # and email are right on the setter or you can PM me here. I'll take it back and send you a refund for the purchase price. We don't pay the shipping but still should take the majority the risk out of the deal. Doesn't matter to me if you buy it direct from us or any of our dealers, I will still take it back.

A couple of nice things with the RTS is that if you get caught in a 330 its very easy to remove your arm, or whatever, due to the one hand operation. You can also hook the setter on the jaws after springs are set and squeeze them together to set the trigger into the dog. Thats kind of a dicey time for some people. Hooked up that way the setter acts as a safety lock as well until you get the trap in place.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck out there!

Shawn

RTS setters are the best out there in my opinion as well. With a guarantee like Trapset just offered it should make it the clear choice. If any of them tong type setters slips before you get them locked they can do a real number on you.

Wouldn't be without my RTS setter. Comes in real handy when there's a coon wedged in tight in a 220 and I can't compress the springs enough to get the safeties on.!
