Sets Help. - 07/02/19 06:19 PM

Hi,
I'm trying to learn some new sets and new techniques to help me catch some more predators next season! Does anybody have any pictures or instructions to share? I'd especially like to learn the compass set and pipe dream set.
Thanks,
AuthorTrapper.

Here a couple of pics of my compass set and pipe set. On the compass set he distance from the holes to the center of the pan is roughly 8 inches and the holes are about 5 inche deep.On the pipe same distance from top lip of pipe no offset. If I confused you on the pipe it angled toward the trap and if you hung a plumb bob from the top lip. The point where it touches the ground 8 inches to center of pan.
I have played with offsetting the trap on the pipe dream and for some reason I have better luck being lined up dead center. When I bait the pipe I take a wad of poly fill and put it down the pipe to suspend the bait about 2 inches below the top I only use a couple of teaspoons down the pipe.
On the compass set I take a q tip and swirl it in my lure put it down the hole with the lure up if you get a little rain it up out of the water some.
I was messing with wax sand in these 2 pictures so the trap bed really stands out they do get completely blended in.The 3rd one is a pipe I put in last winter. I use #2 bridger dogless and #2 duke round jaw.

If you havnt already go to Mark Zagger coyote U web page he has a write up on making his pipe dream its the way I do mine

Does the 8” work for you? I put mine farther apart which may account for more back foot catches.

Yes 8 has been working fine for me. I have yet to catch a yote by the back foot bobcat about 50 50 with flat sets and usually front foot with pipe dream

Is it just lure on compass set and 4 different types?

you can use most anything appealing in a compass set. Its fairly forgiving on attractors you use. I try and use up my less productive baits and lures at compass sets! The blend of different odors adds aire of curiosity in my mind.

^^^What he said^^^
Just want them shuffling their feet while sniffing out each hole.

Sometimes I add a second hole on the step down dirt hole set. Holes are just far enough apart to blend the trap between. I like it 1-1/2 to 2" lower than the lip on the hole.
