Just showing off (skinning coons)... - 08/29/1904:33 AM
Found this old video of me skinning a 3X and 4X raccoons. Laid them on the floor two days to insure they were cold since Beav made fun of me skinning warm coons. lol I could of been faster but I had the hoist double lined so it ran slower. (He still wasn't impressed. )

I need to build me one of them machines that is slick. I never used a skinning machine before and after seeing how fast and easy that was I need one that's for sure.

Thanks buddy.
I had a guy pm me and ask about the opening cut. I use a hooked blade utility knife to make the cut across, then a resharpened butcher shop knife I got cheap from Horn on here. Always try to leave the skin off the top of the back foot attached to the hide so I can clamp it into the vice grips.

Jim if you're skinning several coons or any number of coyotes, you need a skinning machine IMO. No one ever wishes they had skinned a few hundred more by hand before getting a machine. They are always saying "Why didn't I get one sooner?!" lol Whether you buy one from me, or someone else, or build your own if you think you need one, you won't regret getting one.

2 things I do differently than Jayme. One, I never lay my knife down but I do stick it back in the thigh area before I use the winch. And, 2, I quit using both clamps years ago and I only clamp at the base of the tail. Ripped enough hides that I thought it wasn't worth the risk.
I have bought a couple sets of vice clamps from Jayme and highly recommend him. He does excellent work and will custom make something for you. My machine is 16 years old and is probably the best money I've ever spent on trapping stuff.

I dont trap big numbers but ,if anyone is like me and has kids,, TIME is a precious commodity. It allows time for school activities, games ect. and still have time to skn and get to bed at a decent time for work. I look at it like this, initial investment seems like a lot but your not buying a new one every year,(or 15, lol)
