Baby Coons - 10/14/19 06:38 AM

Started doing some scouting. Trail cams. I'm seeing a family of 5 baby coons. Definitely 1st winter for them. Any way to keep them out of my sets ?

Only way I know is don’t trap if you’re worried about it. You can always just let them go. I do it all the time with the smaller ones.

On the water line you can find spots with 6" of water over the trap to keep the late litters out. On land, snares and heavy tension on footholds.

No sure fire way to keep them out, but they can easily be released.

With our waning turkey population on our tract of land, its tough for me to even let the little ones go. Its rare that a coon or opossum gets a free pass from me.

Those tiny coon turn into tasmanian devils! Beware!

The land I trap the farmers want all done. I am afraid to let one go. If I was and got caught. That's a bunch of land I would never get to trap anymore.

Just put some good coyote gland lure near your sets. Keeps the little ones out.
