Good deal, I want to ask what pans I could put on my Sleepy Creek 4 1/2 DLS's to go with the new dogs. I want to get rid of the center slit on the stock pans where the dog engages instead of welding and grinding.

Why would you want to remove the slit?

The Paws-I-Trip dogs are narrow compared to the stock dogs so with the slot in the pan there is not much contact area where the dog meets the pan, seems like it would be better to have contact on the whole night latch surface.

You'd need a device that has a sensitivity into the thousandth if an ounce to detect the difference..

Re: PAWS-I-TRIP - 03/23/20 01:22 PM

Not for the difference in pan tension, I think with such a small contact area it would be easy to wear or loose the crisp edge for the night latch.

I just filed a night latch into the dogs that come on the couple SC 4 1/2's I have.

Anybody know a place that still has offset SC 4 1/2s in stock? I'd like some, I got a couple closed jawed ones quite a few years ago and haven't used them much (using for wolves) like the trap but didn't want any non target catches in a closed jaw trap that powerful. Finally got around to deciding to order some more and can't find any offset jaws. May have to order closed jaws and weld a lug on them.

If it did happen, nothing a quick hit with a file or dremmel would fix. Which would happen with a normal pan as well.

I think Murray's Lures & Trapping Supplies Sells these Traps

That is why I added the laminations to mine even though they were offset they could cut.

If you don't find any wait a bit. With Sleepy Creek back in business it won't be long before they'll be turning out new ones again

Just ordered some from Murray's and they didn't tell me they were out of stock. Thank you Randy.

Sleepy Creek is back in business? First I heard that.

When Sleepy creek starts manufacturing again...

The DLS traps will be the first produced

#11, 3, 4 & 4 1/2

PLUS...PIT owner / inventor was supposed to go in for a knee replacement this week
Things may have changed because of the virus

Also Hilltop Outdoor Supply in Iowa is another place to try. Yes Sleepy Creek was taken over but like other Sleepy Creek Fans, just hoping they will be the same quality. Good Luck!

And your are Welcome Bearcat2!!!

Talked to Ed and he has pans for me and the pan mount to weld on and is going send me the kits. Great guy, 80 years old and was out doing nuisance work after he left his shop this evening.
