Overrun with weasels - 12/09/20 06:27 PM

Couple days ago put out 31 mink boxes on banks of 2 streams about 3 mile each. Using muskrat and mink gland lure, yesterday 19, today 11 ermine. I use trip wire on all my conibears. Don't believe I have ever caught that many ermine ever. Really plugging up my mink sets, but the ermine are pretty little critters

When weasels are at their peak populations you can catch a lot of them. They are a small animal with small home ranges, they are everywhere when the carrying capacity is high.
Have fun catching them.I love catching ermine weasels.

Those little critters are fun to catch. My oldest granddaughter and me trap them during her xmas vacation every year and have a blast.

That weasel musk is deadly on mink and coyotes.

Someone once wrote-
If Weasels were the size of Mt. Lions, it wouldn't be safe for man to go into the woods.

I read once where if a man could accomplish the same as a weasel killing a rabbit he would have to kill a 3,500lb beast with his bare hands-they are one tough little animal.

Told a story about--Snowshoe hares will actually freeze in their tracks and start screaming, waiting to die, if they spot a weasel on their tracks.

Don't know if its true or not, but it sounds feasible.

Caught 1 this morning in a 160, thought for sure it would be cut in half, not even a mark inside the pelt,

I would say a 10 lb weasel would kill anything if it wanted to.

I’d start putting down weasel boxes and forget about the mink!
