Coon on a coyote board?

Coon on a coyote board? - 12/25/20 10:20 PM

I caught a 24 lb coon this morning and it seems too wide for my coon boards. Is it alright to put it on a coyote board or should I stick to a coon board?

Here it is on a coyote board with the fur drying.

Proportion looks pretty good-maybe a bit narrow in the neck, but that could be the perspective of the picture.

I'd use a coon board to get the length unless i was gona have it tanned to sell or keep then it wouldn;t matter.

I have two sizes of coon boards 7 3/4x 48. 8 3/4 x 54. I use the bigger ones for 3 and 4x Coons. They are freedom brand. Tried my coyote ones but theyare little narrow up top.

They were a muddy mess. I’m just drying the fur out after washing it.

I dry wet coon that way also but use a wire stretcher and hang them with the nose folded over at the top and hang thru an eye. You can wash em pop em and they'll be dry overnight as the stretcher let's air into the skin easier.

I put them on sideways and make certain the back legs are together so no drying of the skin side occurs

When I need to dry wet fur I lay the fur out on top of one of my coon cage traps and put a window fan on one end and let it blow for 3-5 hours.

I have to do it now and then and the necks can be a bit thin like Boco said depending on the board. I’d rather have that then a poorly stretched coon.
