Get some aluminum flat stock and pop rivets at the hardware store. I made this for #2 Bridger dogless.

Get an empty tin can of the appropriate size and bend it with pliers and cut a notch for the dog.

Wood, that's why I put the wood handle on my cap. Been bit a few times by my 4 coil #2's. The handle at least gives me a little gap to get my paw out.

grinyeah it’s hard to get your fingers out with only one hand. I’ve been lucky all my bites were offset 2 coils I don’t even get inside of my 4 coils

4 coils aren't much different. I get bit 3 or 4 times a year by my #3 4 coiled bridgers every year. with my eyes closed I can feel a difference between the 2 coils and the 4s

If you can’t find or make a cap to your liking, consider using the pipe dream set up and skip the dirt. I don’t sift dirt anymore. Have gone to galvanized steel screen pan covers and grass even with dirt holes. But the vast majority of my sets today are pipe dreams.

Keep in mind Zagger sifts dirt when he comes to Kansas and there is a reason. Every set and bedding method has its advantages and disadvantages. The pipe dream set was invented to compensate for lots of moisture.

You can also go to a muffler shop, they normally have pieces of mufflers they cut off of tail pipe of different sizes, and will normally give them to you.
